Hiccup's POV:

I woke up to warmth and closure. My eyes blurred as I opened them but soon closed them then reopening them to see where I was. In front of me was a wooden door and to the sides where wooden walls.

I was in a room.

I sat up with a horrible headache pounding on my skull. I brought my hand up to the source that hurt the most and pressed hard trying to relieve pressure.

Ironic; trying to relieve pressure on my head with pressure.

I tried to get up only to be confronted with pain in my side. I looked down to find my torso wrapped with bandages and a small puddle of blood seeping through the white bandages. I looked up to the sound of a door opening.

Astrid's POV:

I walked through the small house that I found watching over my friends no, family.

I checked vitals on Ruff who was staying warm next to Fishlegs. The couple were so cute, I remember their wedding, Green was the theme and everyone from all over came to see the union.

That was the good days.

I checked on Ingrid, who was next to Heather staying warm with Kai real close watching over her.

After I checked on everyone, I walked over to go see Rider. He really looked like Hiccup, I played with the end of my vest that I had gotten from him then laid my hands on the knife I found in the lake, Hiccup's knife.

I walked into Rider's room and saw the lean figure sitting straight up assessing his wounds. I walked over to him with a fresh pair of bandages and soapy water in my hands.

"Hey..." I said as I walked up to him. "I'm going to replace your bandages and check to stitches ok?" I asked setting my bucket down and unwrapping his bandage. He gave me a weak smile as I pulled of the bandages.

As I pulled them off, slowly working my way back to the wound, he winced in pain when I slowly took off the bandages next to the wound. His body was so cold, the blood clots had ice flakes on the tips of them. I took my time, going slower around his wound making him wince a little less.

After getting off the bandages, I took a close look at his wounds. The gash was ridged on the sides and bood was clot in clusters on the wound. I smiled at him as he returned a weak smile.

I took a sponge and damped it in the soapy water in the bucket. I slowly brought it to his skin and scrubbed lightly. Blood washed off his soft, cold skin, soaking into the sponge.

After scrubbing the skin, I looked at his wound and saw how deep it went. "Ya know, you never told me how this even happened."  I said trying to start a conversation as I cleaned the sewing needle.

"Well, I was flying overhead, and I was shot to the ground, along with a arrow in Toothless's tail." He said winceing in between my stitching. I gave him a slight smile and grabbed my clean bandages. "Thanks." He mumbled under his breath as I finished up wrapping his wounds.

"Your welcome, Rider." I said grabbing his hand and rubbing my thumb against the top of his hand.

"We depart in 10." I said walking out and announcing it to my group and left the room, leaving the door cracked a little.

Hiccup's POV:

I watched the sweet nurse walk out. I got up slowly and pulled on my armor along with my top. I slid out the door and into the main room where the small group was getting ready.

I watched as Fishlegs helped Ruff walk out of the room and down to the cart along with the little boy following close behind Dagur who was carrying the little girl who had fallen through the ice. As Dagur carried her out, she looked at me and smiled. She sent a wave to me which I returned with a smile.

I walked out of the house and down to the cart. I was about to get up into the small wooden cart when I heard a scream that echoed through the air, it came from the house.

I pulled out my fire blade and ran in as fast as I could without hurting myself. I ran into the house and saw Heather standing at the top of the stair case crying. I cocked my head as tears fell down her cheeks.

"Their dead!! All dead!!" She whimpered sliding down the rails of the stair case, crying as she slid. Astrid ran up to her, across in hand. "What's wrong?" She asked as she cuddled the black haired viking.

"The rooms.... All dead...." She said looking back at the rooms that lined the top floor. I walked up the stairs, grunting in pain as I walked.

I went into the first room and a haze of death swarmed me. I went back a couple of steps and looked in, standing at the door way. I relit my sword and was confronted by dead children on the floor. Astrid came in and placed two fingers on the dead children's necks, not thinking twice.

"Dead..." She said lifting her fingers and turning the kids over, revealing arrows in their stomachs.

"Cause of death....Dragon Root..." She said closing the eyes of the child that laid infront of her.

We walked out and down the stairs with Heather at our hips. She shook in fear of being the next casualties of the war.

We continued to walk down the path to the port. I wanted to walk, so I walked with Astrid as she reminded me of the Astrid I grew up with, but it couldn't be the same one.

Toothless came up close to me and rubbed his head next to my hand. "What?" I asked as I patted his snout. His tail hit my legs sending me to the ground. "Ahh... Thanks...bud..." I said sarcastically as Toothless did his own impression of laughing. The group i was with snickered a little at the black reptile that caused my fall. Astrid came over to me and held out a hand.

"Thanks." I said grabbing it as the strong viking pulled me up.

We continued down the path to freedom, hoping to reach the port by sundown.
