I guess I'm moving out again, not a big deal. I'm so used to it. Well this time I'm moving on my own, on campus and I'm quite excited and nervous, you know the deal. Today is Saturday, it's raining, great just great. I've always traveled or moved out of places quite often, it used to be because of my dad's job, however as always, things came to an end and we've lived in Toronto for almost three years now. Toronto is great and all, but I'm more of a small town lover, so I'm not gonna quite miss it, although I will miss my mama and my lil' bro'. He just got into high school, such a cutie!

I live in Toronto, Ontario. I know, you were expecting some US city, but no. Sorry I'm in the country of reindeer and maple syrup, dear Canada. I'm originally from the Caribbean, mom and dad from dear Haiti. I got some European and Cuban blood going on too. Got divorced parents, and a younger brother, life is great. Anyway. Today's my last day in Toronto, with my mom and brother, my friends...and the dog that looks at me every time I'm walking down the streets on my afternoon walks within my neighbourhood. Yeah I'm gonna miss that one. I'm done packing and selling some of my stuffs a week ago, and one thing that I almost forgot about, something so crucial, Kotex pads for my period. Can you believe it? Like what kind of girl forgets, well "almost forget ", about pads?

Well apparently me.

Heading to Shoppers Drug mart to grab some snacks and the pads. As I'm done crossing the streets my friend Aiko calls me on the phone.

Hey Aiks!

Raveeeeennn!

She's literally crying, or pretends to cry, that's how dramatic she can be.

Girl don't get me started, tsk. 'Sup, what do you want?

Do I need a reason to call my friend-who's-abandoning-me aka YOU?

Jesus, I'm not abandoning you. *roll my eyes* Sis do you wanna hangout today 'cause I have some free time right now.

There's a brief silence on the line then she continues on;

Well yeah...the thing is I finish my lecture in 35 minutes plus it takes like an hour for me to get out of downtown, is that ok with you?

Girl that's fine, just get your ass over here. By the way where should we meet though?

Oh! Let's watch that movie that you've been talking about...the- err-, argh what is it called again?

The movie After? The Wattpad movie thing?

Yeah, let's watch that one.

Alright, I'll just search up the location and time and text it to you later.

Yeah, you do that, I'll see you la-

Miss Villamor, are you that uninterested to this course that you take the liberty to- BEEP*

Well I guess that was her professor just now, this girl is something else. Do y'all know how many times she scared me the past few months when talking about student life and university stuffs? This girl will dramatise everything as far as to make you never step a foot into a university or college ground, but I still keep up with her shit. She's been such a good friend to me for the past years, we've argued, cried, laughed, played, together. We supported each other in our hardships and down moments, it's amazing how we overcame so much stuffs together. I don't like the term "best friend ", but I think that's how someone else will call her to me. I go home and change some clothes and do something to my face, you never know when a prince in a shiny armour will appear. Moving on, I walk up to the bus stop and head to the mall.

Gosh, I've been waiting for almost two hours now, I'm literally sitting at the Teriyaki restaurant booth and I'm bored my guy. God knows how much I'm gonna- let's just breathe. One thing y'all gotta know is that I don't have patience for long, like I could be willing to do something or whatever, but the minute mind drained out of patience, it's GameOver.

I see her running towards me, looking more Asian than ever. Aiko Villamor is half Filipina and half Japanese. When I say she looks more Asian than ever, I meant she's wearing some white sneakers, black cap, these weird jackets that still look good on her –somehow –, a pair of glasses, she finally realize that she's blind for real. What university do to you. She smiles already knowing I'm gonna say some.

"Sorryyy. Rush hour." She hugs me.

"Sure." I said with a soulless smile.

One thing she absolutely hates about me, is me saying 'sure ' to her, because when I do, it means that I'm pissed about something, and she can't stand me being pissed without telling her what's bothering me. She hates silence treatments.

"Stop it, I'm gonna kick your butt in public."

"Ok do it, then I'll crush your nose."

"Yeah whatever, let's go." Then she grabs my wrist and drags me to the theatre.

After three hours or so, we hugged each other for the longest time, promising each other to always keep contact and to visit each other whenever we get the chance to. I will really miss her, no joke, I also really hope that none of us will grow apart from each other and become great strangers to each other, because I've been through this situation multiple times, reason why I taught myself to not get too attached to people when I know someday they will leave me anyways. At the end my dad did the same, the irony.

I get home, spend the rest of my day with my mama and...the other one.

As I brush my teeth to go to sleep and look into my reflection through the mirror, I'm thinking that I'm really going for it. Jeez this is really happening, I'm gonna be on my own this time, being 19 and going to a new city. For real this time.

My name is Raven Dubois, I'm 19 years old and I'm going to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Let the journey begin.
