~ February 14 ~

Lord knows how much I want to go home and sleep until my eyes get swollen, but I'm here until four thirty. I can't believe people are seriously buying gifts on the actual day, so irresponsible. I didn't buy anything for Daniel, since it's our first valentines and we just started dating, I didn't want to do things that seems too rushed or too cheesy. The other day Mindy was telling me how Sam was always full of surprises every year. She asked me what would be the ideal valentines date for me if I ever dated someone, let me just say that I felt a bit guilty for not telling her about me and Daniel. I just want to see how things are going between me and him first. Regardless, I told her that I like things to be simple, even when my future fiance would propose I don't want any type of show or things in public, I really enjoy simplicity.

"So Raven hun, you've done a great job this past three weeks, after a few discussions we're giving you three days off." Sorhaya my manager tells me as she rubs my back behind the counter.

"Oh my God, thanks Sorhaya!!"

"You deserved it and they're paid."

You see, Sorhaya is an Afghan woman in her early thirties, in my first few weeks I didn't see her, because she was on her maternity leave. Apparently she had her second child, oh my goodness I saw some of the pictures and the most beautiful baby girl I've seen in a long time, with grey orbs just like her mom's, her name is Aruba.

"Thank you so much!" I hug her. She and I it's like we've known each other for a long time, we clicked the second we talked to each other. She doesn't act all mighty to the fact that she's a manager or older than me, and everyone really likes her too she's just have a kind soul. I really like her as a colleague, the other coworkers are so competitive and not sympathetic, the're all about the money and commission. I mean, I want money too but not to the point of making things like a win-or-lose game.

"Stop thanking me before I change my mind." She pouts, and I lose my smile then she wiggles her eyebrows, and I let out a phew while placing my hand to my chest. "So, are you going on a date tonight?"

"Uh, no I don't have a date." I shrug.

"WHAT!! WHY? It's Valentines!!" She has her eyes wide open with bright grey colors.

"Because, I don't have one, and it doesn't really matter."

"How come no one sees this beauty walking down the streets." She sighs. I hear my phone vibrating on the lower counter, when I turn to take it, Sorhaya was already leaning on it to look. Or read.

"Oohh~ Daniel is coming to pick you up!" She claps her hands and smiles. "Who's Daniel? Sorry I'm so curious."

"Haha~ He's my friend." I smile and roll my eyes.

"Hmm-hm, and is that him?" She nods her chin away. I turn around and Daniel was standing right there with a smile on his face, leaned on the counter. As our gaze were locked on each other he winked at me, just the sight of him makes my heart beat to an unusual rhythm, and I feel like my insides are twisting and the rush of blood on my face. So thankful for this amount of melanin.

"H-Hey, what are you doing here?" I raise one brow.

"Hi there," He stretch his hand towards Sorhaya and politely smiles. "I'm Daniel, nice to meet you."

"Sorhaya, pleasure to meet you too!" She chuckles and winks at me while shaking his hand.

"I'm here because we're going out." He says.

"Huh? When? Where? How come I didn't know about that?"

"Stop asking, it's a surprise, I know you finish in ten minutes so I'll stick around. Great to meet you Sorhaya!" He finishes on by looking at the happy woman behind me.
