Chapter 1

I wake up to my alarm clock.. my head is killing me so I take some painkillers before showering and getting ready for work

It's been 14 years since that day. I've gone through job after job not able to commit.

But today is the first day of my new job! I really need this to work out, I need the money to pay for therapy.

Everything is changing, I'm not sure if I'm glad or sad. 14 years ago I lost everything...

After that day I didnt do a very good job at getting back on my feet, i made a lot of mistakes I'm not proud of. But I made it and I'm here today. Facing the mirror and saying

"I made it!!"

I smile at myself in the mirror as I grab my bag and head out the door. I got in my car and start driving.

In about 15 minutes I get to my new work place.

I'm working for a company called "iBigHit" and they put me on front desk. Which isn't that hard

I took log of the appointments that showed up, and the ones that didnt. Today was actually pretty fun.

I had a 5 hour shift to start off with. And I was about 2 hours in when they sent me on break

I had 30 minutes.

So I decided I'd walk to the deli next door and get me a sandwich.

Once I order I sat down with my phone and bottled water.

I heard some commotion through my ear phones. I turn my head to see this group of maybe senior guys picking on what looked to be a freshman girl

I think they were hitting on her and she was trying to nicely shoo them away

But it wasnt working

Poor girl. I got up and threw away the wrapper to my sandwich and put everything else away in my bag as I walk towards the struggling girl.

"What do you guys think you're doing?" I asked putting my hands on my hips

"Oh it's nothing to concern yourself with ma'am" one of them out of the 3 said with a smile obviously trying to get me to leave.

But I wasnt leaving.

"Oh really? Cuase to me it looks like you're trying to force this poor girl into something she doesnt want to do, so if you dont want to get the authorities involved I suggest you leave" I say with a just as big of a smile and the first guy used on me

I waved my hand bye as they walked out the door.

I turn to the girl and looked into her eyes. For some reason they looked so familiar. But I just couldn't place it.

She has blonde hair with dark brown roots and dark blue eyes. And she was on the shorter side of the world kinda like me

"Are you okay?" I asked and she looked at me with this kinda sparkle in her eyes.

"You're perfect" she said and I admit I blushed a bit at that. I dont get many compliments like that. Its feels nice!

"Well thank you" I said shyly as I put my hair behind my ear.

"Oh I'm sorry! I didnt mean to be so blunt!!" She said apologizing.

"Its okay, but are you okay?" I asked regaining myself and looking into her beautiful eyes

"Yeah I'm fine! Those guys always harass me, I was just glad they left" she said scratching the back of her neck

"Do they ever hurt you?" I asked. She looked at me a bit shocked before shaking her head so fast and I let out a sigh of relief

"So where are your parents? School let of about an hour ago" i said looking at my watch.

"Oh, it's just my dad and I. But he should be here, he works 2 part time jobs... hes always working..." she said looking down and upset.

"Oh I'm so sorry to hear that!" I said apologizing for bringing it up.

"What's your name?" I asked her. She immediately looked up at me with a smile

"My names Charlie and thanks for saving me!" She said

Crap! Now I know why she looked familiar! I gotta get out of here!!!

"Well it was nice meeting you, but I gotta get out of here, I'm on break and it's almost over" I said awkwardly walking towards the door of the deli store

Why is she here?!?

Half of me wanted to stay and the other half was the half moving my feet to get the hell out of there.

I go and push the door open. I keep my head down just in case.

I was walking back to my company, opening my backpack to get the books and logs I need out when someone bumps into me.

We both end up falling

"Oh I'm so sorry!!" I heard a voice that almost brought me to tears.

"I-its okay" I said starting to gather my things. That's when my heart was speeding up. I reach out for one of my books that fell out of my bag.

And he reached for the same book. Our hands touched and I felt that spark that I missed so much, for so long.

We froze sitting there with our hands touching.

I snap out of it and grabbed my book and took the ones he gathered and put them in my bag.

"Thank you" I said still looking down, then I head off.

"Wait! Can I at least know your name?" He slightly yelled as he grabbed my arm.

I snapped my head up without realizing

To late to turn back now.

I look straight in his eyes with all the confidence I could

"Y/n?" He said aloud before shaking his head. "Sorry I just- you look like someone I used to know, but she died.." he said and I suddenly felt so sad

"Its been a while, huh?... Tae..."

I was thinking we could have a little contest! For a cover that is!
