Chapter 10

the doctor finally looks at us and i couldn't take it no more "doc, am i ever going to walk again..?" his expression saddened as he shook his head, that's when my anxiety kicked in and my breathing become uneven.

"It's okay love, everything is going to be okay" Tae voiced his thoughts as we both tried really hard to calm my breathing

Felix soon took my hand on the other side of the bed and tried comforting me as well while the doctor continued 

"sadly the baby did a lot of damage that we didn't realize till you had a painful delivery. but he damaged a part o your spine that is to dangerous to try and fix, but we can provide a wheelchair to send you home with Mrs. Kim" he said with the saddest look I've ever seen on someones face

it brought me a bit of peace knowing that this hurt him almost as much as it hurt me.. do we just have a family filled with disabilities? whether it be mute, or paralyzed.. its a cruel world we live in.. 

"now there is a chance that your spine will heal on its own, but it is a rare case. but the only surgery i could suggest is way to risky. but goo news, Adam, he's breathing on his own and he seems really healthy. I'll go get you a wheel chair so you could go see him!" he said with a sad smile and i nodded still shocked about the previous news

then he left the room, and a couple minutes later Charlie rushed into the room

'oh thank god mom you're okay' she signed and all i could do is smile weakly. 'what happened?' he asked and i looked at my legs that i might never get to use ever again.

"mom went into a very painful labor, she passed out from the pain, and apparently Adam was doing more damage then anyone would've thought" Felix spoke since no one was going to

'what does that mean?'

"it means that mom is now paralyzed" after those words i heard Charlie breath in faster then normal. 'what about Adam?' she asked trying to process the information we just gave her. "he's okay, he just started breathing on his own, we're about to go see him" Tae spoke this time, his voice was filled with sadness.

just then the doctor walked in with the wheel chair he had promised. Felix and Tae got on either side of me, each taking an arm as they helped me into the wheel chair. i looked over at Charlie and it looked like she had more on her mind then me and the baby

i was about to ask her about it when the doctor spoke "and who is this?" he asked motioning towards Charlie "oh she's my other child, Charlie. she's mute" i explained now focused on my only daughter 

'hi' she signed with a smile as she shook the girls hand "how did she become mute?" he asked "her crazy father shot at her, even though it just grazed her it cut deep enough to damage her vocal cords, there is a repair surgery but we cant afford it" i explain and he hummed

"but isn't Mr. Kim her father?" he asked and i shook my head "no, Charlie's father kidnapped and raped me several times, he even kidnapped my husband once, and when Charlie was born he tried to kill her" i said remembering the hard times i went through way back then

"I'm so sorry that happened to you Ma'am" he said with a deep sadness in his eyes. "Felix and Charlie have the same father but he's not my biological son, but we made him our" i said with a soft smile causing the doctor to smile as well

"well lets go pay you beautiful baby boy a visit before he gets to lonely" he said with a smile and i nodded with a smile as well.

when we arrived he pointed out which one is ours before saying "I'll leave you guys to it, i gotta go call in a favor" he said with a smile and we nodded

the child was small but he's beautiful, he looks so precious and i cant wait for the day i get to hold my child, but they're keeping him in the hospital for another day to make sure he doesn't he doesn't have any lung or heart issues 

we sat there, Tae behind my wheel chair with his hands on my shoulders as he spoke "that's our baby boy right there" he said and i placed one of my hands on his " yeah, and he looks so much like his handsome father" i said with a smile causing Tae to giggle softly

a few minutes later the doctor came back

"well i have some good news" he said with a big smile, we all looked at him with a questioning look. then he turned to Charlie "how would you like to have your voice back?" he said and all our eyes widen is shock and confusion. 

"h-how?" i asked "the surgeon owed me a favor, so i called in that favor" he said "the surgery woke cost you a single penny" he said "why?" Tae asked this time 

"cause you guys have gone through so much and still manage to be such a loving and kind family when you have every right to be bitter. i found it very inspiring" he explain and i tear fell from my eye "t-thank you" i choked out and i beckoned him over so i could hug him  

i hugged him and thanked him a few more times before Charlie happily went with the doctor. our family is coming together quickly and that makes me happy. we're always in the need for a miracle, and we finally got one. and it makes me happier knowing that Charlie is getting her miracle. she's been through a lot for a 16 year old girl and she really needed that favor called in
