Talking with my parents felt breathtaking, I couldn't find the words to explain how I felt right now.
I felt like I had just been given the best gift ever, parent that truely loved me. Nobody else but Hades had showed me such love since I had been freed from my horrible life. I would never forget what I've been through, never forget the cold showers and the dry lungs and the fear of getting sick because I hadn't eaten enough.
Now you couldn't see my ribs, thanks to being an immortal wolf-the beauty I had never seen before shined through me. I still had scars, ones that would never leave me-I was proud of that, it reminded me of everything I had ever went through.
"Could I ask a question?" I smiled, looking at my mother's curious eyes.
"Of course." I said, a wide smile on my lips.
"What color is your wolf?" She asked, my smile faded a little.
"It's okay sweetie, you don't have to tell us." My father said, he noticed my flinch.
"No it's okay, the people who raised me didn't accept my wolf-punished me for my wolf being black." I told him, his eyes went gold for a second before he relaxed.
"Your wolf is black-that's amazing!" My father said with a smile, his eyes showing pride I had never seen before.
"What did those horrible people do to you." My mother said, her eyes filled with tears.
"Mom-" I trailed, I didn't want to tell them anything.
"I know, I understand sweetie but watching you flinch when I asked the color of your wolf is heartbreaking—like telling us would change how we felt about you? We've lost 18 years worth of moments with you, lost memories I would've cherished." My mother cried, her eyes filled with guilt and pain.
