Ch. 10: The little girl's Point of View

[Wendy's PoV]

"Master... I'm so sorry..."
"What is the probem, my child?"
"I... nothing. I just..."
"Hmm?"
"I want to quit the guild..."
"W-What? Why, child?"
"I can't... stay here any longer."
"It's about Lucy, isn't it?"
"...... I want to move on. But I doubt that I can. I--"
"It's not your fault, Wendy. We had to. It's for her own good."
"But Master, I--"

I mentally slapped my cheeks to erase the memory from my thoughts. It was the day I left Fairy Tail. That was 3 years ago. 2 months after we... left Lucy-san.

Every night, I had nightmares about me hurting Lucy-san.

Until now... I still blame myself. What if she's dead now? I mean... if I didn't heal her that time, she could've turned to a spirit. That way we could still see her. This is my fault. If she's really gone now, I won't forgive myself.

"The Lost Treasure. It's really a good story. I actually wanted to read it."

Lucy-san's voice echoed in my head. It was the day before 'that' happened.

The Lost Treasure... I think I may read it. I looked at my left side and found the book store, so I went there.

As I scanned through the shelves, I quickly found the book. When I took it, I hit another hand by the book. I think she was gonna take this, so I looked at her.
No way...

I was frozen in my place. I didn't know how to react at first. I felt hot liquid pour from my eyes and a smile crept on my face.

"L-L-L-Lucy...? Y-Y-You're alive? Lucy? That's you right? You're alive, right?" I said as tears began rolling down my face while smiling.

"Lucy-san... I'm happy to see you..." I said teary as I went to touch her hand but she quickly pulled it away. I frowned. Oh...

"Don't. I-I'm just a ghost. Awooo~"

"I'll hunt you in your sleep if you don't leave now. Awoo~"

"Lucy-san?" What is she saying?

"Awoo~ I'm Ghost Lucy-san. Give me the book. Awoooo~"

"You're funny, Lucy-san. You're really alive, right? Please tell me you're alive and not a ghost. Please?" I  asked hopeful.

She sighed.

"Why, Wendy? Why are you so happy to see me alive? Aren't you supposed to hate me?" she asked one after another question and turned around.

"You can have the book. I'll just read a different one." she began walking away.

"I guess, you're guild is very happy now, huh?" She asked bitterly.

She's still walking away.... away from me. I wanted to move and run after her, but... It's as if my feet are glued on the floor.

"Wait..." I called so she stopped but didn't turn around.

"I left the guild..." was all I said before she continued to walk away. And left.

I sighed and looked at the book. So she hasn't read it after all these years?

Should I tell this to Master Makarov? No... she seems happy now. I don't wanna ruin her life again. I don't wanna risk hurting her again. I guess I should just... protect her in the shadows..

"Lucy, I have something for you!"

"Huh? What is it, Yukino?"

"I found the book you were looking for! The Lost Treasure!"

"Eh? Where?"

"At your doorstep."

"Really?"

I smiled as I watched the two. They both look so happy. I guess, she's really happy now.

But why, of all guild, did Lucy-san joined Sabertooth? Why that guild? She's not... *sigh*

"I'm done reading! You can have it, Yukino!"

"Eh? Done already? Just for five minutes?"

FIVE MINUTES ONLY?!

"Yup! Using the upgraded gale glasses. Faster reading."

"Wow. So what's the story about?"

Cool Glasses~ I wonder if Levy-san has one? She became the closest person to me after 'that' happened.

"It's about a girl who always felt alone. No family, no friends, no lover, nothing. But one day, she met a guy who made her feel happy. Whenever she's with that guy, she feels like she's never been alone. Then she met his friends that became her friends as well. They treated each other as family. Then, she fell inlove with the guy. But she doesn't know if he felt the same. When she decided to confess, something else happened."

"Eh? What did?"

"The guy's long lost girlfriend that he thought was dead because of a car crash came back. And he was so happy. The girl felt so sad and depressed. But she pushed herself to move on and forget her feelings. But she couldn't. Then one night, the guy visited her. He told her how he feels for her. That he likes her too. And then, he courted her. The long lost girlfriend didn't become his' again. Cause she already got a boyfriend."

"What a cheater"

"I know, right? Anyway, everything became happy for her. Happy friends, happy life, happy her. But not until one dreadful day."

"What happend, then?"

"She got in an accident. And everyone thought she's dead. But she just actually went to a state of coma, and moved to a different country."

"So, what happened after? Did they reunite?"

"No... It's the ending. I see we should look for the second book."

"Aww... it was already exciting."

The Lost Treasure... the story sounds familiar.

I thought it was about a missing treasure where adventurers will look for it. But it's actually about a miserable girl who's life turned bright, then dull again.

"Hey Lucy!"

I looked at them again and I felt my body shaking when I saw who the person was. Him...
