The Wrong Future

Episode 6: Promises

It's been three months. Three months since Jaemin and I started dating.

-Hallway-

Jaemin: Hey Y/N.

He comes up to me and wraps me up in his arms before pecking my forehead. I smile as he lets me go but still keeps his one arm around my shoulders.

Renjun: Ugh please, can you guys stop being so sappy this early in the morning?

Y/N: *frowns* What's got you so cranky?

Renjun: Nothing.

He storms off leaving me shocked as Jaemin drags me along seeming unconcerned.

Y/N: Do you know what happened?

Jaemin: *shrugs* He probably saw the girl from yesterday.

Y/N: Oh yeah... Poor guy.

Renjun confessed to this girl he's liked for about a month now. Things didn't go as planned and now he's been added to a waiting list of sorts?

Jaemin: I'm sure it'll work out.

Y/N: Yah, can you be a little more sympathetic? He's having a hard time.

Jaemin: What do you want me to do? Have a girl talk with him or something?

I narrow my eyes at him and pinch his side making him shrivel to the other side.

Jaemin: Ow, that hurt.

Y/N: Good, you deserve it.

I see my class come into view and remove his arm from around my shoulders as I go in.

-Classroom-

I see Renjun seated at his usual place, his arms are propped up onto the table as he lies his head on top of it, looking out through the window.

I sigh and walk up to him.

Y/N: Renjun?

He doesn't budge so I peer into his face.

Y/N: Are you okay?

He looks the other way and I frown once again.

Y/N: Hey, it'll be okay. She's the one who's missing out you know.

Still nothing, I've never seen him so upset over something. I pull up a chair and take a seat next to his table.

Y/N: You know... when Jaemin first asked me out, a part of me wanted to say no too.

He stays silent for a long while and I'm about to speak up again when he beats me to it.

Renjun: Why?

Y/N: *smiles* Well, I was scared. Remember the guy from Canada?

He turns his face to look at me again.

Renjun: the one who looks like him?

Y/N: Yeah... I was scared I was using Jaemin as a replacement.

He nods urging me to go on.

Y/N: Turns out, he is the guy from Canada.

Renjun: What? How'd you not notice that?

He furrows his brows and gives me a sceptical look.

Y/N: It's... complicated. Anyway, my point is, it's scary when you first start dating, especially when you like the other person.

Renjun: Shouldn't you be happy?

Y/N: Yeah, you usually are but sometimes you get more scared than happy because you don't want to mess things up.
