The one I retrived

This AU is gonna be about when kids turn 18 every year they have to retrieve there soulmate. Sometimes the best of friends end up together, sometimes it's love at first sight. If the person retrieving the soulmate doesn't find there soulmate by the end of the day, the soulmate is put off into a deep sleep for 10 years just to do the same thing again. The soulmates being retrieved are poisoned but just to be asleep until the retriever soulmate lips touch them in any sort of way. If you have any questions I will answer. Also, the retriever has hints to finding his soulmate. The setting usually takes place in the forest, if not it would be New York City.

**Conner P.O.V**

I was sitting at my desk, as normal for a day like this. Strangely, Evan wasn't in his desk. Weird. I excuse myself to the bathroom to look for Evan. If he wasn't in the classroom, he was in the bathroom. Evan wasn't in there either. Even if he was sick then he would still come to school. Next thing I know I'm in a forest. I look beside me and so are other people, looking around confused. I look at myself and I'm in a whole different outfit.

I have a dark green long sleeve shirt, rolled up about midway to my elbow. I had two leather straps trying around my chest to form an X. One leather strap had a canteen in it, the other strap had half of loaf in there. I don't get why we needed to have two straps to have this stuff, but fashion goals. I had pants, which was the same color as the shirt. And the boots looked like I was in the military.

"Welcome kids!" A voice said. I looked around for a person, intercom, something but nothing was there. "If you don't know what is happening, let me explain." The voice said. "All of you are 18, so it is time to receive your soulmate! You have to find your soulmate before noon. Now you are probably wondering, how are we supposed to find them in this forest? There will be clues leading you to your lover. You can start with the first clue in front of you. Good luck! Also, you retrieve your soulmate by placing your lips on them." The voice said.

I looked at the ground in front of me and sure enough, there was a piece of paper right in front of me. The paper said: "Look at the cast that still lasts, the tree is the place to be." I remember how Evan got his cast taken off 3 weeks ago. Jared probably got Evan anyway so what am I thinking about. I looked around, walked for a bit. I found Evan's favorite tree and there was a cast for your arm.

I lifted the cast and there was a slip of paper. The clue read: "Does blonde and blue give you a clue?" Right now, I'm almost sure it's Evan. I don't know how this clue even helps me at all. I walked around the forest for about 2 hours. I trip on a rock and stumble a bit too and I see a blue shirt. Similar to the one that Evan wear. Probably the one Evan wears.

The clue was right on top of the shirt. This one read: "this might be a tough one so listen close. Your only reading it once, not like your average double dose. The computer with the messages had your direction. Look carefully, try not to get lost. Keep your eyes on the goal and don't forget who you love." This one is weird. It didn't rhyme, and it sorta sounded like a warning. "3 hours people! Find your soulmate quickly." The voice appeared again.

I got a bit worried, I wasn't sure what would happen if I didn't find this so-called person before 12. I have my hopes for Evan. How am I supposed to find a computer in the middle of the woods? I searched and searched, and felt time running short. I ran into another person, which lucky for me was Zoey. "Hate to ask for help, but do you know where a computer is?" I asked Zoey. "Back that way," Zoey said pointing to the left side of her. I ran over there and found a computer.

I opened the lid and found another clue. "Congratulations on finding your last clue! Follow the light that is ahead" I looked up and saw a bright light. I walked towards it, being careful to not slip on rocks and roots. "10 more minutes people!" The loud voice said. I got a bit more worried and started running to the light. Finally, the light came to an end. There was a little mossy cave, that had leaves towards the exit. I went through the leaves.

And not too much of my surprise, Evan was laying there. I remembered, to receive my soulmate, I had to put my life on him. It's not like I didn't want too, but he is still my best friend. "10 more seconds!" The voice said. I panicked a bit. Where do I kiss him? I quickly kissed Evan on his slightly parted lips. The moment I pulled away we were in Evan's room. Evan eyes fluttered open. "Conner? You're my soulmate?" Evan said sitting up and looking at me.

"I-I guess I am," I said scratching the back of my neck. Evan giggled a bit. The blush that reoccurs on his face when he is nervous or flattered. "How did you get in this mess in the first place?" I asked. "Eh, it's a long story," Evan said. "I'm planning to stay here all day," I said. "I just saw these people in my room and they explained it's the time for my soulmate to retrieve me. I was scared, I was about to call the cops but then they insisted that they mean no harm, and my mom let them in. They said I had to get on these clothes, which are a bit too tight and they explained that I might be risking my life doing this. Since I was already curious I went head in." Evan explained. "You mentioned the clothes were tight, why don't you just take them off?" I asked, putting my hand on Evan's. "B-but you are in here," Evan said, his face flushed with redness. "I mean, we are technically already together. Only if you want to though." I shrugged. Evan sat there, I could feel that he felt embarrassed. 

"Or, I could take it off for you," I smirked. Evan's face somehow got redder. I pushed him back onto his bed and got really close to his face. Evan gulped. "I-I-I'll take it o-off!" Evan said. 

Sorry that I really haven't updated in a while. I was writing other stories and just suddenly got an idea for this book. Now I have a lot of ideas like maybe a making a little short story but not in one chapter and maybe angst (???)
