Chapter 3

Sonia walked closer to him, right up in his face. "What did you say to me?"

"I said, no."

The way Sonia talked about his friends, the way she talked about Richie..made him angry. So angry, he didn't want to hide in the dark with his mother anymore. He couldn't do it.

"I can hang out with whoever I want! I am sick of you telling me who I can and can't hangout with! I am not your puppet, I will not let you control me. Don't you dare speak about my friends like that! They're more of a family to me then you'll ever be!"

She slapped him.

He froze for a moment, taking in what just happened. He felt his own face, it stung.  Usually he'd cry, cuz this has happened once before. But no, he stood tall and faced her.

"You know what else mom?? Huh?!"

"What?!"

"I'm fucking gay too!"

Her eyes widened, it looked like she was about to hit him once more but Eddie ran upstairs. Running into his room and locking the door, he quickly started packing a bag. He wanted out of there, as fast as possible. Only the important things. Sonia started yelling and banging on the door, he picked up the phone on his side table. And dialled a number. Richie's.

"Cmon.. pick up.. please pick up.." there was no answer. The banging continued, and he tried again. Nothing. That's when he started to cry, he really needed Richie right now. But he gave up and climbed out his window, grabbed his bike and rode off to Stan's. It was closer.

Once he got there, he threw his bike to the side and knocked. Stanley answered, and before he could speak Eddie jumped into his arms.

"Woah woah.. Eddie hey.." he hugged him, "What happened?" He didn't say anything, he just cried. Stan didn't like when Eddie cried, it hurt him. He kept hold of him, then brought him inside to his bedroom. And put Eddie's stuff to the side. After a bit, he calmed down and wiped his face with his shirt.

"Can you tell me what happened?"

There was a brief moment of silence. Stan rubbed his back, "it's okay, take your time."

Eddie sighed deeply, holding the one side of his face. "M-my mom.."

"What?! That fucking bitch, I swear to god-"

"Stan. I told her I'm g-gay, I told her t-that I wasn't gonna let her talk shit about you guys.. Also.. I left. I don't.. I don't wanna stay there."

"Then you can stay here."

Eddie looked over, "Wait really..?" He smiled and nodded, making Eddie smile as well. About an hour passed and the two were watching a movie, Eddie was drawing. The phone started ringing and Stan picked up. "Stanley Uris speaking."

"Hey Stan.. it's Richie."

"Oh god. What do you want??"

"Uhm, I just wanted to know if eddies okay. He called me me five times, and I didn't pick up.."

"What?! Why not?? When was this?!"

"Like.. an hour and a bit ago."

"Why wouldn't you answer?!"

"..."

"Say something!"

"Okay! okay! I just, got nervous."

"Why were you nervous?"

"I.. I don't know.." But he knew well enough. yEs, I jUst dId tHaT.

"Richie."

He started to panic, trying to think of a reason. But the silence only grew longer, making him more suspicious.

Stanley sighed, "If you're not gonna answer. Then I'll leave it at this. He's not okay."

"Wait what?? What happened?!"

"You expect me to tell you?? Now I don't care if you were nervous, he needed you! He called you for a reason, you richie. Out of all of us he wanted you to pick up your god damn phone! But no, you were too much of a fucking pussy to answer! His mother hit him, and now he's staying at my house. And I hope you're happy now, cuz he's sure not." He hung up.

Eddie looked over, and Stan just shook his head. "Don't worry about it." He nodded a little and sighed.

"Bill said we're having a sleepover tomorrow.. I'm gonna go."

"Are you sure you want to? Richie's gonna be there."

"I know, it's fine."

"Is it??"

He sighed, "he probably had a good reason.."

"Yeah, by that you mean he was too nervous to pick up."

"Nervous?"

"Yup."

"Why?"

"I think we both know why. Either way he should of answered, now cmon. Let's get some sleep."
