CHAPTER 10

The whole flight was experienced in complete silence. I held on to Jack and tried to imagine the world to be a perfect happy place. But unfortunately, it wasn’t. After some time, we noticed an island. It wasn’t big, but was civilized and had different structures on it.

Jack flew down to the island and let go off me. “Are you alright Elsa?”

“Yes. I-I just don’t understand why the place is empty.” I said as I scanned around Berk, which was quite clearly uninhabited at that moment. Or I think everyone was inside their houses not wanting to come out. I had made sure to changed my attire before I set off. I was in a war costume. Simple clothed that allowed easy access and flexibility.

“There must have been something that happened.” Jack said as he scanned the place.

“I think so.” I just replied and sat on the ground. A black sheep with weird yellow circles on its fleece wandered past us and we stared at in confusion.

“So... Are you gonna talk about it?” Jack asked me as I rested my head on his shoulder once he sat down.

“My... Um. Pet died” I said not knowing how to do it. Jack must have definitely thought I was crazy to take revenge on someone for killing my “pet”. Well, he didn’t know what my was.

“Oh... Well, we’ll avenge your pet.” Jack said and I understood that he meant it even though he thought that I was crazy.

“Jack... look, I know, you think I’m crazy and all, but you haven’t seen-” I started and was abruptly interrupted by a loud sound. Both Jack and I turned towards the sky, searching for the source of the noise, and then we spotted it. A huge swarm of dragons. Was it a swarm or a bunch or a flock? Whatever a big group of dragons are called.

“Elsa! We need to leave now!” Jack said and pulled me out of the dragons’ sight.

“To Valka! Now! She’ll give me the details. I’ll navigate.” I said and held on to him. We flew as sneakily as possible. Once we left, and got a closer view of the dragons, I noticed an ugly man sitting on a black dragon with eyes like a snake.

I navigated Jack to the ice fort my Alpha made for the dragons and as I had predicted, Valka was visible in a distance. That woman, was not hard to find. Jack landed a little away from her and we noticed that she was on her knees and so were a few others. Her eyes were teary and there was another man, around my same age aiming a fire arrow at the mist covering the big blue ocean. He had dark hair and one and a half legs.

He shot the arrow and it burst into flames in a distance. That’s when I understood that it was aimed at a ship. The man had good aim.

I walked towards Valka and placed a hand on her shoulder. She turned around and her eyes widened.

“Elsa! How are you here?!” Valka asked as she hugged Elsa.

“My Alpha died Valka. You thought I’d live without knowing?” I replied as I hugged her back.

“Your Alpha?” Both Jack and the man with one and a half legs asked. Just that, Jack didn’t understand the ‘Alpha’ part of the dialogue and the other man didn’t understand the ‘My’ part of the dialogue.

“Yes... My Alpha.” I said facing them and then turned to Valka. “May I see him?”

Valka nodded and led us to the other side of the fort. And then I saw him. The king of all dragons. My guardian lying there. Dead and lifeless on the ground. I ran towards him and felt his rough skin. I hugged it and sobbed for a while till Jack held on to me and hugged me.

Valka continued crying and wiped her tears every now and then. I turned to her surprised and asked “What happened Valka?”

“It looks like both of us have lost someone special today.” The young man said and I looked at him.

“Huh?” I asked confused.

“I’m Hiccup” He said introducing himself and all I could think of was what a weird name Hiccup was. “I’m the present chief of Berk as my father just perished.” He said clenching his fists and sighing out aloud as a tear escaped his eye.

“I’m sorry about that.” I said pitying him.

“All because of Drago Bludvist.” He continued. “And he’s the same man who killed the Alpha.” My eyes widened at this and I stared at him. I knew Drago Bludvist was going down.

“What happened to Valka though?” I asked as polite as possible.

“Valka, is my mother.” Hiccup said and looked at me. I solved the puzzle in my head and understood it. Valka’s husband just died. I hadn’t even known that she was married. Much less to the chief and that she had a son who was around my age!

“Valka... I’m sorry for your loss.” I said softly. “I’m here for one thing. It includes revenge on Drago Bludvist...”

“You can count us in.” A blonde girl with a head band and a warrior outfit said and the rest nodded.

“He is going to pay for what he did.” Hiccup said and held the warrior girl’s hand.

“Bludvist to Bloody fist.” Another man from the group said and smirked.

“Very well then... Off to Berk it is.” I said and turned around. It was going to be doomsday for Drago Bludvist...
