It's been about four months since Kiryu's passing. It still is a hard pill to swallow time to time. Everyone else seems to have accepted it as fact and grieved as they needed. Most of those who found themselves to be friends with the past yakuza member still returned to the new Serena. It gave comfort in a way. It was like coming home after a long day to a warm embrace that was so familiar but out of reach. Serena was the one place that his memory truly lived on it felt.

You rested your head in your arms upon the bar top and looked up lazily at Mariko. No one else had come in for nearly two hours. You had switched your liquor for water in an attempt to stop yourself from drinking right into a coma. "Mari," you whined. "It's so lonely."

She turned her back to you as she grabbed the water pitcher and sighed. "______, you should be calling me Mama. You know this. Besides, it's Friday. Everyone will be getting off work soon enough and you will have your play time before you know it." She filled your glass back to the brim before setting aside the pitcher. "You have always gotten off work earlier than everyone else. You ought to go for a stroll or something rather than hiding up in here."

You scrunched up your nose and  groaned to the older woman. "What good is a stroll? Not like I would run into anyone."

A knowing smile crossed her lips and she chuckled softly. "Mm, Akiyama-san tends to stay inside unless he is going for a smoke, no?" To this you blush a faint pink and sat up straight like a rod of lightning struck your spine. "Haha, you always respond like you're still a high schooler."

"Mama," you whine, embarrassed. Your face only grew into a darker shade at each word. "B-Back off, would you? Besides, he always seemed to be into his secretary."

"That doesn't mean you have to step aside. When has Akiyama-san stated plainly that he had an interest in her. Hm?"

"Mama, really. I-It doesn't matter. Can't we just drop it? Besides, I will eventually find someone. There has to be someone out there...right?"

"Someone out there for what? Hm?" called out a new voice that mixed with the soft chime of bells on the door. You jumped as you whipped around to see Akiyama. "You know I can help you find all kinds of people in this town."

"A-Akiyama!" you practically shrieked. "Wh-When did you get here?"

"Just now of course." He took the seat besides you and nodded to Mariko. She quickly prepared his drink and smiled softly. "Thank you, Mama."

  "Of course."
