"No not like that, like this!" Paul and John we're arguing again for what seemed to be the millionth time today, over a song Paul was currently calling "Seventeen". From what I was able to gather from the scrap pieces of paper scattered around Jim McCartney's living room, that were holding the lyrics, the song was about a girl he'd seen dancing and he was falling in love with her, I assumed it was about Dot which I thought was absolutely adorable.
But of course with every song came arguments....especially when it came to Lennon and McCartney."For Christ sake Paul it shouldn't be "never been a beauty queen" that just sounds dead queer." John shook his head in disgust before turning to mine and George's direction, pacing the room in restlessness. George was sat on the arm of the sofa completely invested in his acoustic guitar that was sat on his lap, he wasn't paying the slightest bit of interest to the two quarrelling teens. I was sat beside him with my head resting on his knee as he continued picking out melodies on his guitar humming along with them.
"What do you two think? Doesn't it sound queer?" John reiterates gesturing his hands to Paul, much to his frustration, I knew John loved to get under Paul's skin but from what Paul had revealed to me earlier in the kitchen I could tell this was getting to him more than usual.
"Well I don't like it either John but you didn't even let me finish or give me a suggestion, you just went straight off into your row!" Paul groaned throwing a piece the piece of paper they'd been working off into the fire.
"Oh come on mate don't be like that, I was having a laugh." John turns suddenly noticing Paul wasn't joining in with their usual banter.
I shuffled in my seat slightly, pulling my head from George's lap before speaking up."Why don't you guys leave it for a few minutes, you've been stuck on the same song for hours, perhaps a little break would help?" I suggest to which George smiled sweetly at me and the boys agreed that it would maybe be best.
They had got a lot done today already, they'd written an alternative version of The Music Man's "Til there was you", sung by Paul which was lovely and sure to get all the girls falling for him. But for me it was George's guitar solo which he plays so effortlessly.
"Right lets take five then." Paul huffed walking off through the back door of his kitchen into his garden to let off some steam by having a smoke. George took this opportunity to pull me along to the front garden to be alone, we stood outside the front door as George pulled out a cig and offered me one which I accepted, it had been a long day. He lit it up for me and wrapped his free arm around me, protecting me from the bitter winds that whipped about in the air.
He chuckled rubbing his hand over my arm in an attempt to keep me warm. The sky was grey and heavy now and it looked as though it could snow any minute.
I looked up at him furrowing my eyebrows at his random outburst. I nestled further into him and hummed as I took in his comfortable aroma.
"What're you chuckling at?" I question taking a small drag.
"You....having to tear those two away from each other, we usually just let them get on with it." He explains before planting a sweet kiss on my forehead, making me giggle as he had to squat down slightly to reach.
