When I woke up the next morning, I had a black eye. It wasn't too bad, like in the movies, but it was still pretty dark. After showering I covered it up with make-up as best as I could. I knew Adrian would be pissed all over again when he saw it. I was pissed. Pissed enough to rip Connor apart if it it was the last thing I did.
I dressed myself sexy today. Dark blue skinny jeans with ripped knees, high-heeled boots (just in case I got a chance to stomp Connor's toes), and a cute, black belly shirt that said "WILD" in bright yellow letters. I wore my long, brown hair down in perfect waves down my back. I threw on just a little of mascara. I was going more for natural beauty today.
I grabbed my back-pack and headed to Adrian's house, after saying good bye to my parents, avoiding eye-contact so that they wouldn't see my black eye. Outside, it was nice and warm with a little, soft breeze. The snow had completely melted, leaving everything looking like Spring. I smiled and walked to Adrian's door.
I knocked. Adrian opened the door. And practically drooled. He looked me up and down. "I can't wait to show you off to the boys at school. And then let them know that you're mine."
I smiled and grabbed his hand. "You ready?" He nodded and we got into his red truck.
He smiled at me, then did a double-take, the smile wiped from his face.
Oh, God, here we go, I thought. "It's really not as bad as it looks..."And I wasn't lying, it really wasn't that noticeable. Only if you stared at my face for longer than like five seconds. I sighed.
He gripped the steering wheel, silent. He said nothing as we drove to school.

When we arrived at school, no one recognized me. I'd always been the girl wearing jeans and t-shirts and hoodies with my hair in a pony tail or sloppy bun. But now that I'd made all this effort, suddenly everyone thought I was a new girl. They couldn't take their eyes off me: boys and girls! The girls looked at me angrily while the boys looked at me lustfully, hungrily (gross).
I held Adrian's hand tightly. We walked by the cheerleaders sitting at a bench.
"How does she do that?"I heard one of them ask quietly.
"Do what?" said the other.
"Get the hot guys. First it was Jake, now she's dating Adrian? Like what the hell! She isn't even that pretty!"
Tears sprang to my eyes. Adrian leaned over to me. "Don't listen to them. They're just pissed because you're the most beautiful girl in this school."
I smiled at Adrian. He was so sweet. Yeah, he was flirtatious sometimes, and we had ended up almost....well, you know. But he had such a gentle, sensitive side. The only other guy I'd met with that was Jake. How did I get so lucky and find two in a row?
We walked in. Adrian walked me to my locker.
"It's a good thing we have a few classes together." Adrian said, smirking evilly.
"Why?" I asked narrowing my eyes.
"Because then I can fight way all the boys trying to claw their way to you." On the inside, I was singing. It was nice to hear a compliment, especially from a boy!
All of a sudden, Adrian stiffened. His fists clenched, his jaw tightened, and he looked absolutely murderous. He was staring right past me.
"Adrian, what's wrong? What are you looking at?" I asked, turning around to try and locate the object of Adrian's anger.
