I crept into the warehouse where I first started my apprenticeship, it was dark and creepy, making me grip my bow staff just a little tighter.
"Hello robin"
The voice echoed around the abandoned building, making goosebumps crawl up my arms.
"Slade" I growled.
"Now now, we wouldn't want to be disrespectful, would we?" He said casually, but I could feel the threat.
"Did you just threaten my robin?" A new voice asked.
"Talia" I said and nodded into the shadows that dominated the room.
"Robin" she replied.
She walked forward, stepping into the light.
I sagged a little before I ran and hugged her.
Regardless of her reputation, Talia al Goul is the best hugger out of anyone.
"What happened to you little robin?" She asked.
"I got sent to an alternated dimension." I replied.
Before I could say more, the windows shattered, revealing all the avengers, that came with me minus peter.
Talia, not knowing the threat, pushed me behind her, and got into a defensive stance.
Realizing what was about to happen, I ran to the center, between the two opposing sides, and held up my hands in the universal sign of stop.
Looking to the avengers, I sighed. "Avengers, this is Talia, remember I told you guys about her"
Mama nat relaxed and started moving forward.
Out of my peripheral vision I saw Talia tense, turning to her, I said "Talia, these are the people who took care of me in that other dimension"
She narrowed her eyes before relaxing her stance.
"Someone else is here" Bucky growled.
I sighed, looks like diffusing this particular situation would be more difficult than anticipated.
"Bucky, Hey, promise he's not going to attack, everyone chillax. Isn't that right slade?" I asked the shadows.
He stepped out in all his villain glory. I could tell both sides were tense considering our history that only Talia knows.
"Everyone needs to stand down, because if any of you accidental, or not, hurts a citizen of this city, I will make it my personal mission to end you" I threatened.
Tony the ever cocky man replied. "You got lucky when you fought us, don't expect us to stand down when these villains are right next to you"
Sighing, I realized I needed to diffuse this before some egos pop.
"Okay, okay, I understand the hesitance, but no one is going to hurt the other, we're all going to calm down, stand down, and then we can explain the situation" I replied.
The adults in the room hesitantly put their weapons away.
Sighing, I relaxed my rather tense stance, maybe I can get out of this situation without revealing what happened to anyone.
"Alright, now that we've calmed down, avengers this is Talia, and a man named Slade, Slade and Talia, these are the avengers, they're from an alternate universe" I introduced.
Mama Nat was the first to come forward, the avengers following shortly after.
When she reached me, I whispered to her. "Mama Nat, I told you I was fine, and that I didn't need the Calvary"
She shrugged before answering "We're in another dimension where I don't know where you are or the people here"
It was her version of telling me she was worried.
"I'm okay" I replied.
"Where's peter?" Tony asked
"He's with some friends, safe and sound"
Tony narrowed his eyes at me, not making any more comment for now.
"Alright, now imma go finish up, and then we can go to where peter is, and hang out there for a little while" I said hoping the avengers would get the hint.
Some nodded, some (mama Nat and tony) narrowed their eyes.
I turned on my heel, and with a grace only an acrobat could muster,
I tripped.
Quickly recovering, I turned it into a barrel roll, and gracefully coming back up, continuing to Talia as if nothing ever happened.
"Mama Nat?" Talia questioned. "Why is she the only one you refer to as mother?"
I cleared my throat awkwardly. "I-Uh, actually can't explain that one" I rubbed the back of my neck nervously.
Great now all my other motherly figures, especially the villain ones are going to expect me to call them something like that too.
And I'm so not ready for that with them.
"Okay we're good, I'm alive, can I go because I've got to deal with some very upset teammates, and family"
Talia nodded and gave me one last hug, I gave a nod to Slade, and headed back to my family of another world.
....
Back at the Titans Tower
....We settled down after settling some things and sorting out why they can't tell anyone else in this dimension why or where I went, besides seeing Talia and that she wanted to be secretive about it.
Raven was again being unusually emotional, it might be the mental bond we share, but I'll never know.
She wouldn't let me go five feet away from her.
Starfire was ecstatic that she had people to try her Tameranian cooking.
Beast Boy was fanboying that there was another dimension and that they were heroes from it.
Cyborg was the only one who was relatively calm, and I appreciated that. Although I would never admit it, tonight was more emotional straining than I had originally thought it would be.
I had zero doubts that if my adoptive family hadn't been there, Slade would have made a move to make me be his apprentice again, and I was relieved that he didn't try anything today.
After a rather traditional Tameranian meal that we all pretended that we loved for Starfire's sake, and ate it.
We relaxed and caught up (me and the team more than the avengers) and there was some light teasing about starfire and I, but eventually we all settled in for a movie.
