Thank you so much for the request as always LunaPusheen! <3 I kinda fail at fluff so hopefully it's not absolutely horrific.
[Sabo x Reader : Cuddles Make the Bad go Away.]
_______
Fridays were supposed to be the saving grace of the week. They were supposed to be an easy day and they were supposed to be the day you always looked forwards to. Get through the week, and once you get to Friday, you get to catch a break.
It was not. You were excited to get your weekly coffee (daily got too unhealthy) as you always did on Fridays. The coffee shop on your way to work was your favourite, and the barista that worked when you went made the best coffee, so you were a little disappointed when she wasn't there. But it was fine. You ordered as you always did, waited a couple minutes, then on your way to the counter when your name was called, you ran into someone rushing out with their drink.
Steaming hot coffee spilled all over your shirt, and you bit your tongue to prevent yourself from yelling. The woman sighed throatily and stormed out, tossing her cup on the way. You winced, accepting the napkins the staff and a couple customers offered, asking if you were alright. You said you were, of course, grabbing your coffee and heading out as quick as you could. You usually kept a jacket in your car, but after recently cleaning it out, it was clear of anything. You were pretty proud a few days prior, but at the moment, you wished nothing more than a cluttered car with everything you could possibly need.
And of course, traffic was awful. There was a huge accident on the highway, so you were stuck for hours.
When you finally got to work, your usually fun, laid back job took a stressful turn. Your coworker had gotten sick and couldn't head into work. You felt bad for him, but you couldn't help but feel a little bad for yourself, too. You two worked together, doing a five person job in typically half the time, so there was already extra work and expectations. But the two of you worked well, plus you got the higher end of the pay for your career. That was looking on the bright side.
The bright side at the moment? Extra work to take home! Great. You tried to speed through your work as much as you could. Which was cut off pretty fast by another an intern who was, officially, the loudest typer you've ever heard and chewed gum like his life depended on it. You asked him politely to try to type quieter and spit out his gum, and he complied for a few minutes before hammering away again and getting another piece from the packet. Even music wouldn't block the sound out.
You somehow managed to crush the same finger in the door thrice, spill food on your lap, and drop your phone in the sink. So no, you weren't in the best mood.
You just wanted to get home early, but when a major problem was brought up in your department, you had to stay late and fix it. It was 9pm when you finally left, and you got to work at 8am. You were almost too tired to drive back home, but you managed, eager to get home.
You slammed the car door shut, but by the time you got to the front door, your energy was somehow already drained, and it only barely closed. You stepped a couple feet in, kicked your shoes off, and fell face first into the couch.
"(Y/N)? Hard day at work?"
You pulled a pillow under your face and groaned, kicking your legs against the cushions.
"Thought so. Here," Sabo said, helping you sit up and curl into him. "You wanna head straight to bed or stay up and relax for a while, sweetheart?"
You looked up at him with a small pout on your lips and bright eyes. "Relax," you murmured.
He smiled and kissed your forehead. "Wait here for a second, darling," he instructed, leaving you to lay on the couch for a while. You heard the bath water running, and Sabo soon returned.
"C'mon," he said, lifting you up and carrying you towards the restroom. "You'll be alright from here?"
"Yes, hun, I know how to take a bath by myself," you assured, a small smile tugging on the edges of your lips as he carefully set you on the countertop.
He laughed softly. "Just making sure. Come back to the living room when you're ready," he said, shutting the door behind him as he left.
You slid off the counter and undressed, stepping into the steaming water. You took a deep breath, falling deeper into the water until only your head was above the surface. You closed your eyes and stayed that way for a while until the water cooled to a lukewarm temperature and your fingers started getting pruney.
You stepped out and rolled your shoulders, drying off before dressing with the neatly folded, fuzzy pyjamas Sabo had laid out for you. You slunk back to the living room and fell into Sabo's arms. He had popcorn, movies, and a bunch of soft blankets set up.
He started your favourite movie as he wrapped you in his arms, coddling you in a blanket and bombarding you with kisses along your neck and face.
A smile was glued to yours and Sabo's faces. "Whatever screwed you over today, don't even worry about it sweetheart. You don't have to experience it anymore, it's in the past."
He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you into his lap, resting his chin on your shoulder so he could kiss your cheek.
"Thanks, Sabo. I honestly don't know what I'd do without you," you murmured into a blanket you'd bunched up and brought up to your chest to hug.
"Right back atcha. Did you want popcorn?"
He waited for a response, but all he got was the slow, deep breaths from within your slumber. He smiled, satisfied with how relaxed and happy you looked. He was going to pick you up and bring you to bed, but you unconsciously clutched onto him and the sheets, so he lay down with you next to him, savouring the sweet moment and praying for no back pain once the two of you woke up.
