But My Mind Holds The Key

The sound of the trees dancing in the soft breeze surrounded the seven men. The trees stood tall, making the young men feel small but protected.

The air was cold and humid, yet it was not uncomfortable. The fire was burning wildly, savoring the dried wood that helped it grow. The warm colors of the flame conveyed a warmth that they could not feel.

It was a serene vibe, unlike the excitement of the last dream. They were still a group of strangers yet they were comfortable in each other's presence to the point where resting their heads on each other and hugging did not feel awkward anymore.

"Ay, earrings, what's your name again?" Phone asked.

"How can you forget the name of such a handsome man" Earring tried to look serious before his expression splintered, making way for a bright smile

"Fine. Your name will always be Earring. What about you, Piano?" Phone asked.

"Come on! I have the coolest name here" Piano continued teasing before high-fiving Earring in a fit of laughter.

"This is not going to work, we need to find another way" Omelas hummed in thought, trying to think of something.

And just like that, a piano appeared out of thin air, but it was like it had always been there. Piano's eyes lit up as he walked towards the instrument. His fingers glided on the keys without a hint of pain or discomfort.

It was hard to come up with a rhyme and an appropriate melody, but once they had the ball rolling their introduction song turned out to be fun, and some lines even had the seven of them in tears from laughing too much.

Once the song was over, it felt like it was going to be stuck in their heads for all eternity. Earring seemed to be interested in the instrument, tapping a few keys before Piano came over to teach him an easy melody that he quickly picked up on. Playing the piano was so much easier since everything was possible at the moment. They could've built a rocket and flew to the moon without an issue.

The seven males felt as if the air had wrapped them up in a protective hug, making it easier for them to breathe, and lifted the weight off of their shoulders, but only for a few centimeters. The stress of their everyday life was still there, waiting for the moment that the comforting atmosphere would dissipate so that it could come crashing down on them once again.

The sound of the alarm echoed through the room, causing the male to open his eyes and sit up immediately when he saw that it was six AM, he couldn't afford to be late. His back, shoulders, and legs were aching, but he was looking forward to what was to come next. He tapped the alarm, rolling off his mattress with a groan and folded it along with the blankets before tucking it into the closet. Once his bed was folded away, he headed to the bathroom for a shower and in a matter of minutes, he was ready for the day since he didn't have to think of what to wear when he had to wear uniforms all day. And as always, he only had a few minutes to rush to his work.

His usual to-go breakfast was a crushed up block of ramen, but he didn't even have time to deal with that today. He put on his shoes and ran out. "Good morning, Namjoon!" The old woman watering her plants on the balcony said cheerfully as he rushed past her.

"Good morning" He chirped with a smile, bowing to her quickly so that he would not slow down. He was greeted by the old man getting his mail, the mother walking her sleepy child to the bus stop, the postman, and more. The neighborhood he lived in was the opposite of what he came for. People here did not have much, but they hold so much love in their hearts. And those greetings alone were more than enough to have him excited to wake up every day.
