But We Don't Really Know Each Other, Do We?

The lack of interesting dreams caused Seokjin to wake up before his mother got to wake him up. After glancing at the clock, he came to realize that it was quite late for the house to be this quiet. He got out of bed and wandered out to look for his mother. His morning doesn't start he sees her face, but today was different since he found her still in bed, a pile of crumpled tissues next to her and her nose glowing in a red color. "Oh no, you got a cold" He chuckled at how small she looked in her big bed as he approached the bed and wrapped his arms around her.

Seokjin had a close bond with his mother, where it resembled the bond between friends when it came to trust and support, and the role of the caregiver would often switch between them, especially in a situation like this, when one of them would get sick. It had always been just the two of them since his father was never in the picture, nor were his grandparents or any of his extended family. He always thought that she raised him that way because she was in dire need of a friend, and he didn't mind stepping into that role at all.

"Want me to call Dr. Lim for you? He could give you something to make you feel better" Seokjin suggested, caressing his mother's head. She felt warm against his arms which indicated a fever. She shook her head, refusing to meet a doctor.

"I called him already and he told me to take the usual pills he gives me, and to rest. It's just a cold, I'll be fine in a few days" She said before coughing into her elbow. Seokjin was not that worried since her immune system was not the best and she usually caught colds easily. He knew what to do.

"What was your schedule for the day Ms. Kim?" He asked playfully as he got up, looking for the brown leather Filofax planner she had been carrying around since the day she started her business. Once he found it he crawled back to her bed and opened it. "Hmmm, we have visits to a few stores. Meetings with sponsors, and then a meeting with the shareholders to introduce a new product" He read before looking up at her.

"You don't have to go. I can do it from here, you know, Skype exists" She said, jokingly. She did not want him to feel pressured to go through with her schedule since she wasn't sure if he enjoyed it or not. She didn't care about money or status, she just wanted her son to be happy, even if he did not have a job.

"I want to do it, it's not so bad," He said with a shrug. It wasn't that he enjoyed it, but he didn't completely despise it. He thought it was because he saw his mother's passion for the company she built all on her own. Seeing her happiness when pieces fell together and as she watched the little hustle project she created to feed her son flourish into a giant company that carried weight in its name.

"Okay, I'm gonna go get ready" He perked up before placing a kiss on her cheek and running out of the room. He wanted to have time to get breakfast before the day started. A while later he walked back into his mother's room with a pile of things in his hands. The first thing he did was to plug in the diffuser and adding a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to help his mother feel better.

"I got you a couple of books I've read recently and they're really good if you get bored. And uh- a few more tissue boxes since your nose doesn't look like it would be stopping anytime soon" He said, placing the things within an arm's reach to her. Yes, they had maids to help around, and he was aware that they'll bring his mother anything she would need, but still, he felt like that would not be enough.

Once the contents of the box were placed around his mother, he smoothed his light blue suit. "I told the kitchen to prepare soup for you, and then tea. You need liquids, and warm things too. I'll get going now to grab a coffee before visiting the stores. Call me if you need anything." He said, smiling as he picked up the planner, blowing his mother a flying kiss.

"Take care, and if it gets too much, just tell Seoyun to reschedule things. Don't push yourself too hard" She said as she watched him leave. A mother would be proud to see her son dressed up to go to work, but she was just worried that he'd get overwhelmed.
