READER'S POV

Noctis stood there with a shocked look on his face after learning about Insomnia falling and then he spoke up.

"This your idea of a joke?" Noctis shouted in an angry tone.

"I need you to calm down so I can explain," Ignis told Noct.

"I'm as calm as I'm gonna get!"

"Noctis! please!" I said as I placed my hand on his shoulder to calm him down.

We looked at Ignis and he told us.

"There was an attack. The Imperial army has taken the Crown City."

"'As treaty room tempers flared, blasts lit the night sky. When the smoke about the Citadel had cleared, the King was found...dead'."

"No, wait hold on..." Noctis spoke with a shocked look on his face.

We weren't expecting this, well, except for me since I knew this was going to happen but, I couldn't tell them this because I knew they wouldn't have believed me. 

"We had no way of knowing."

"Knowing what?" I asked Ignis.

"That the signing was last night, that Insomnia-"

"But the wedding! Altissia!" Noctis shouted.

"I know, that was the plan. Yet, the reports about the invasion are all the same. How could every headline in the Kingdom be wrong?"

"...Lies..."

Noctis mumbled. I placed my hand on Noctis' shoulder and I told him.

"Noctis, there's no way this could be lies, what I've just told you about what I saw and what the newspaper said-"

"SHUT UP!!" Noctis snapped at me.

"That Amulet showed you nothing! the headlines are wrong!"

"Noctis calm down."

"Don't tell me to calm down and don't you dare tell me that you know what I'm feeling! there's no way that my father is dead! he can't be!"

I can tell Noctis is lashing out and I figured it was best not to say anything. I lowered my head and then Gladio patted my head.

"Don't worry, he's just upset."

"I know."

"...If only," Prompto mumbled.

"What else do we know?" Gladio asked Ignis.

Ignis shook his head and then Gladio told us.

"Then we can't be sure until we see it with our own eyes."

"And that means we go back to Insomnia," Prompto told us.

"Might not be safe for us there."

"Might not be safe for here!"

Gladio looked at Noctis and he asked him.

"Turn back?"

Noctis thought for a moment and then he agreed with Gladio.

"Yeah."

We got into the Regalia and then we headed back to Insomnia. We sat in silence as we headed back to the Crown City but, I was looking at the amulet that I was wearing and I could see that it has that same faint glow. Prompto broke the silence when he finally spoke up.

"I hope everyone is okay."

"Lotta good hoping's gonna do."

"You mustn't lose faith," Ignis told a worried Noctis.
