Tony smiled as he swung open the grand door of the shelter and walked inside, being greeted by the people inside, putting an even bigger smile on his face..The night went quickly, and before he knew it, it was 12 and you had still to arrived. He could feel his eyes getting heavy and decided he was going to go home.
He said good bye to Steve before he left, but they ended up leaving together.
Tony got the door for Steve and they went out into the pavement.
"you wan to know what happened don't you." Steve asked as he noticed Tony keep glancing at the wheel chair.
"you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." he replied not wanting to make the man uncomfortable.
"I was in the army. I trained for years, it was my dream since I was in college and realised I wasn't very academic. I finally got accepted after many failed attempts, and I was over the moon. I went on many mission, any could have been my last, but I done it because I wanted to do you, you know, but then there was undetectable missile. I was the only one who survived. I lost my best friend. I could have died on that mission, but after I wished I had, this was a much worse fate than death. It was a hard time, but I managed to get my passion back. I started doing shifts at the homeless shelter and felt so much better after. I felt like I had a purpose again. " He smiled lost in thought.
"I'm sorry." tony said. " I cant imagine what you went through."
Steve came out of his transe and sighed. " I didn't think I would ever forget him, and that the pain would some day go away, but it stays there forever, you just get stronger as a person and are able to carry the weight of it easier."
Tony was now deep in thought. Could he ever get over it. Could he ever forget what happened? Could he be the persn he once was again? he didn't know, but he still didn't know if he wanted to.
