That night tony said good bye to Steve and went straight to the pub, wanting to drown in his sorrows. He sat at the bar and order a drink.
He sat and waited for his order and when it arrived he didn't waste any time drinking it. Soon it was empty and he ordered another. He listened to the Christmas music playing in the background and swayed softly to it. He sipped his drink and enjoyed the song, taking in his surroundings and not just ignoring them like he was used to.
Before long the drink was nearly finished and he swirled the contents around creating a little whirl pool in the bottom. He was approached by a beautiful youngish girl, looking to be in her late 20's. She sat down next to him and eyed his nearly empty glass.
" you look thirsty, do you want another?" she asked in a flirty voice fluttering her eye lashes.
Tony was going to automatically say yes, but that would ineditibly lead to sex. He didn't want sex tonight. So, he done a very un tony like thing, and turned her down. He picked up his coat off of the bar stool and left.
He stepped into the cold, the frosty air biting his face, and he sighed. He still didn't quite believe hat he had just done. He just didn't feel like it was right any ore. He no longer had that whole he needed filling. Thinking over what he done, and deciding overall that it was in fact the right thing to do, he smile in content and started walking down the street to find a taxi to take him home.
He felt happy. He felt like he was on the road to a full recovery. Despite what the multiple doctors said, he still wasn't right. But he finally felt like he was getting better.
He was content. The drive home was surprisingly quick. He was used to it going really slowly, as he couldn't wait to get there, but this time he looked out of the window, and admired the night sky in it's full glory. He had never realised how many stars there were, and how bright they all were combined.
He felt like he was in a different world altogether. Everything seemed new and exiting to him, like he had never seen them before, because he had spent so many years taking these simple things for granted , that he never really understood the true beauty of them.
He was becoming a new man, for the better.
