Alexia’s POV
I finally felt as if I was able to breathe.
Ever since that night in the karaoke bar, Lee had sensed something was off with me, and I knew he was getting suspicious.
As guilty as I felt admitting it, I was immensely relieved when he had a sudden call from his father about staying another day in Tokyo to take care of one more thing.
Since it was already Sunday, I needed to get home because I had school the next day. I was actually excited to be sitting in a classroom listening to teachers drone on and on. It was better than feeling a burning pit in my stomach every time I made eye contact with Lee.
Don’t get me wrong, I liked Lee, but I seemed to have gotten into something with Colin I knew I couldn’t forget about. It was just further proven by the one date he took me on; that was the deciding factor.
He actually proved me wrong when I initially thought how stuck up and full of himself he was as he tried asking me out the first time.
He paid attention to me, found out what I liked. That was more than Lee had ever done. Lee only brought me on dates that he knew he would enjoy. Not that I didn’t enjoy those dates, but it was nice for someone to cater to my wants for a change, you know?
Staring blankly out the window, the sun was high in the sky, glaring down harshly on the shimmering white body of the plane. The landscape was cruising slowly past, and I could see the tiny flecks of what were skyscrapers.
Resting my head against the window, I was starting to nod off, the music playing from my phone pulling me away from my thoughts. I had gotten scarce amounts of sleep the remaining time we were in Tokyo together, my mind plagued by feelings and thoughts centered around the two males in my life.
As my eyelids continued their descent, I could only remember thinking of both Colin and Lee, and the shame I felt for leading both of them on.
I just couldn’t choose between them at this point. I had known Lee and been engaged to him for far too long, but Colin seemed to know me better overall despite us meeting mere weeks ago.
How could someone possibly choose between total opposites?

“Ma’am? Ma’am the plane has landed.”
I took a sharp inhale, my eyes blinking open. The first thing I saw was a flight attendant looking at me, and when she saw that my eyes had opened she smiled.
“Thank you,” I murmured quietly to her, my voice thick and heavy with sleep. Clearing my throat, I forced a smile. “Thank you,” I repeated, louder this time.
“Of course,” she replied, giving me a curt nod before walking towards the back of the plane.
I stood up to see that most of the passengers had already left the plane, only a few stragglers remained.
Getting out of my seat, I retrieved my baggage from the compartment above before also leaving the plane into the busy terminal. I got my other two bags from the conveyor belt, hiking one onto my shoulder and rolling the other one on the ground.
As soon as I started towards the exit, I realized that I had never told my parents when I was going to land, and it was Lee who was supposed to arrange my ride back home.
I let out a frustrated growl at myself for being so careless. I just wanted to go home, and it was at least an hour’s drive from the airport back to my house.
I found an empty bench near the clear glass exit doors, and plopped down heavily onto it, preparing myself for the long wait as I picked up my phone to call my parents. I rubbed at my shoulder, feeling that it was already a little sore from carrying around such heavy luggage. After dialing, I held the phone up to my ear listening to it ring once, twice, three times –
