"I want to apologize for this morning" Major Malik said quietly

"I'm sorry for swearing at you and being rude..."

"What I did was inappropriate" Zayn said "especially... You know what I'm talking about"

I did and to say the least is scared the shit out of me hearing him moan

"I don't want you to tell anybody that I did that" he said gently "I... I could lose my status, Niall"

"I know"

"I don't want to be downgraded" Zayn said "I love my position and..."

"Maybe if you're nicer I'll keep your assault a secret"

I knew I was accusing him of rape again, and it made him angry, but I took it back quickly

"Don't ever pin me down in my room again" I said seriously "you don't know how scared you made me. I thought I was going to get beaten to death this morning"

"How's your face?" He referred to the bruise

"Sore"

"I'm sorry for hitting you that hard"

"Then why'd you hit me?"

"Just before you I had a couple more boys to yell at, so I apologize for letting off my steam on you. That was an awful thing to do... Especially since I'm so fond of you"

"Fond?"

"Fond" he smiled

"I thought to hated me"

"You're mistaken" he chuckled "you're by far one of the best kids here"

"You think so?" I felt a lot less intimidated by his compliment

"I haven't been sleeping much lately" he said "I've been grouchier than usual too, but you'll see Niall, I'm a nice guy. I'm everybody's favourite Major, I just have my bad days and weeks"

"Is there any chance that I could get a warning on your bad days during my personal wake ups?"

"Not likely"

I sighed "so... I'd like to offer us as friends but I already know that's not possible"

"Be kind to me and I'll be kind to you" he said "how about that?"

"Okay, yeah" I nodded "I'd like that"

"Let's start over"

"Yes sir"

"Hi, I'm Zayn Malik, and I'm your Major" he offered his hand

"Niall Horan, sir" I shook his hand

"Pleasure to meet you"

I flushed pink "the pleasure is all mine"

I'm not sure if that came across as flirting even though it sort of was. But I didn't let it bug me

"Go sit with your friends, I'll see you tomorrow"

"Yes sir, goodbye"

"Goodbye, Niall"

"He apologized" I shrugged

"That's insane!" Louis exclaimed "he can't apologize you're a disobedient brat!"

"Well thanks" I said sarcastically

"Sorry, but it's the truth" Louis shrugged "besides, since when do Majors apologize?"

"Your father must've said something to him"

"Maybe it's about how hard he hit you"

"He did hit me pretty hard"

"So he just offered a redo?"

"Yeah, he introduced himself to me personally and everything"

"That's insane" Liam piped up

"I think he wants the D" Louis prodded me

"Hey, don't touch that!" I covered myself "if it were Liam or Harry it would be fine"

Louis pouted

"For all I know you could want my D"

"Good point, you're forgiven"

Why did Zayn apologize?

"Apparently he was having a bad day though"

"Shit yeah he was" Louis nodded "the day you back talked him he had a senior play a prank on him and fuck, he seriously came down on that guy"

I wondered if it was one of the beaten up boys in one of the nurse beds. Was it the one with the cast or the one with his head bandaged?

Was that why sergeant Tomlinson wanted to see him this morning?
