The rest of the day went by fast. Third period, Roxy was thrilled that she didn’t have to deal with the Blake brothers or the crazy bitch, Kelly. In English 4, Miss Donovan was one of those cool teachers that let you do whatever you wanted as long as you did her work. Opening the door, Roxy dropped her school stuff on the couch.
“Harmony, I’m home.”
Harmony smiled, coming out of her room. “How was your first day?”
“It was okay.” Roxy shrugged.
“Did you meet any new friends?” Harmony propped.
“Just this girl, Megan; she’s cool.” Roxy opened the fridge.
“Don’t get full on junk food.” Roxy arched her eyebrow in question. “Shane is coming over for dinner.”
Grabbing a piece of chocolate pie, Roxy sighed in relief as her mouth danced happily. “This is so good.”
Chuckling, Harmony grabbed her a piece and sat next to Roxy earning a smirk from her. “Damn, Miss Agnes sure does make the best pies.” Roxy silently agreed as she stuffed her face.
After a few minute passed, Roxy spoke. “Does Shane really have to come over tonight?”
“I thought you like Shane?” Harmony grabbed their plates to place them in the dishwasher.
“It’s not that I don’t like him, it’s…” Roxy shrugged. “His friend, Noah creeps me out.”
“Noah is harmless.”
“He still gives me the creeps.”
Sighing, “Roxy, give them a chance, for me.” Harmony pleaded with her eyes.
“Fine, but if he grabs or tells me something perverted. I am kicking his butt,” Roxy warned.
“And if he does you tell me and I’ll help you.” Harmony grabbed a dish towel playfully hitting Roxy on the butt. “Off you go, home work and then TV.”
“Ya, Ya, Ya” Roxy smiled heading towards her room.
Roxy softly shut her door, dropping on the bed when her phone rang. Picking it up on the third ring, her face brightens at the caller. “Heath about time you called.”
A deep chuckle echoed through the phone. “Missed you too, Cami.”
Using her feet, Roxy pushed her shoes off, dropping them on the floor as she scooted further on the bed; keeping her feet up in the air and her tummy facing the soft bed. “How is everyone?” she was happy to hear a familiar voice.
“Same old, same old.” Heath replied.
Roxy could hear movement in the background before she heard another voice. “When are you coming to see us?”
Laughing, “It’s good to hear from you too, Everly and I don’t know.”
“Come on, girl, we could really use you next weekend,” Everly pleaded.
“You know I gave all that up.” Roxy’s voice was low and grim.
“Your father wouldn’t want you to give it all up, Cami.” Heath said in a soft voice as the phone was past from Everly to Heath.
Tightening her hand on the phone, Roxy felt her heart hammer at the mention of her father. “I can’t,” she whispered.
“Give me the phone.” Another deep voice echoed as the phone was tossed to another person. “Mellia, we understand why you stopped but you can’t let that stop you.” Finn spoke in a caring voice.
