The September weather was slightly cooler; yet the summer heat still lingered. Harmony lifted her shirt from her skin which felt clammy from the hotness. Even though summer was coming to an end, Harmony wished it would hurry up and be done with. Harmony always loved when the seasoned changed and fall comes; changing the trees to autumn colors.
She was walking towards her car, with a vanilla folder in her arms filled with papers. Proof of what she needed. For the past four hours, Harmony had cashed in most of her favors from people she came in contact with over the years. She wanted to say she was shocked at what she found but a part of her always knew deep down. Reaching in her pocket, Harmony grabbed her car keys when she heard footsteps. Biting her lip, Harmony noticed two guys staring at her as they walked from different directions. She rushed to put her keys in the key hole but her hands started to shake; causing her to miss. Harmony yelped when a rough hand grabbed her shoulder, sending her towards the hard heated surface. She winced at the scorching concrete as it touched her skin.
She tried to get up but the guy, who made her fall, pushed her back down. "Leave me alone," Harmony cried out. She noticed the second guy grinning as he walked around the front of her car.
"And why would we do that?" Another voice replied devilishly.
Harmony jerked her head to the side, to see yet another guy, appear out of nowhere. He was dress in biker cloths like his comrades, decked out in black. "What do you want?" She asked, her body shaking from fright, eyes wide.
The man in front of harmony bends down in front of her. "You should have kept your mouth shut and mind your own business." Grabbing her roughly by the front of her shirt, he man slapped her across the face; making her face turn slightly red. "I am going to enjoy this," he gloated.
"Stand back," the third man ordered.
Harmony cupped her cheek as tears started to leak down her cheek. "Please..."
Her words trailed off as the third man kicked her lower abdomen causing her to whimper and curl up into a ball. The violence didn't stop there as it continued as all three kicked, punched and roughly grabbed her; causing her light tan skin to bruise. The more she moaned or pleaded, it only excited them more. Her attackers laughed and their eyes where filled with glee. Harmony screamed in her mind as she started to hear her heart beat faster in her ears. She could no longer see her attackers, like a tunnel, their faces were masked with burliness. With every blow her body jerked in response. Soon everything slowed, deemed into blackness; beckoning her to give in. Through haze eyes, Harmony watched as they contended to harm her. She whimpered before giving in to the blackness, letting it consume her. With a painful sigh, her body went limp and her mind faded away.
Roxy rushed inside the hospital, her heart still pounding from the phone call she had moments ago. Pushing the doors open, Roxy walked towards the reception desk, tears threatening to leak out of her eyes. Behind the desk an elder lady with salt and pepper hair that was to her shoulders, asked how she could help her.
"I need to see my sister..." Roxy trailed off, closing her eyes as she thought back to the phone call.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Megan spoke.
Ring, ring, ring.
"Bye," Roxy lifted her phone to her ears with a smile on her face. "Hello."
"Is this Roxy O'Neil?" A male voice boomed through the phone.
"Yes, who is this?"
