A massive danger roars in my face,
The green of its waves reaching towards me,
As if it's trying to grab me and pull me into its depths.
It's not trying to scare me away with its rushing of water,
It merely wants to be appreciated,
Not for its danger,
But for its beauty.
I appreciate it for its beauty,
The sun high in the sky making it shimmer like it's full of the most precious gems,
The roar more like a soothing purr,
And inside lives a lively ecosystem of just as equally beautiful creatures.
The saltiness is so much that I can taste it,
And the smell of evergreens fills my nose,
I feel at home.
I stand upon the rock that sits below my feet,
The roughness scraping the bottoms ever so slightly,
And I leap.
The air hits my face with a salty sting,
And for a moment I feel like I'm flying,
I feel free.
I smile as my toes sink into the warm sand,
And a seagull flies by,
Its call making my heart flutter.
I start to run,
Every step is a soft pat on the ground,
The air stings my crystal blue eyes and makes them water,
My massive friend roars beside me in encouragement,
A smile adorns my freckled face.
I feel like I could run forever,
But the burning of my lungs yields me.
I laugh as more tears escape from their cerulean prisons,
Laughs become sobs and I take one last look at my freedom.
I may never return,
But you will always be my emerald coast.
