Chapter 16: Illusion

Chapter 16: Illusion

Episode 15: Humanity (continuation)

I woke up looking at the clear blue sky. I sat up looking around to see the woods surrounding the clearing. I touched my head. It surprisingly wasn't hurting me. I looked around. Where was Red Tornado or Treasure? I stood up feeling uneasy. There was something about this place that made me feel uneasy. Where was I? Why was I alone? I closed my eyes. I couldn't feel anything. Not even a squirrel or bunny, it was just empty. I looked down at my gem clutching it tight in my hands. I started walking toward the woods. I looked around trying to find at least one thing out of place. I noticed a butterfly enter the clearing. I watched as it circled around me. I put my finger out and it landed at the tip. I looked at it's white wings. I could feel it's legs tickling my finger. So this is real? Its not some kind of trick? Then what happened to Red Tornado? And what happened to my baby? I let out a scream when someone grabbed me from behind. I heard a familiar laugh that made my heart skip a beat. I turned to look at D. I soon regretted it when our eyes met and I felt my heart starting to slowly crack and shatter to a million pieces. I quickly pulled myself out of his arms ignoring the feeling of security that came along with him. I turned around and glared at him.

"What the hell did I say about the sneaking up on me?!" I yelled annoyed.

"Sorry..." he smiled at me. I looked at him annoyed. What the hell was he doing here anyway? I turned around and started walking away. And why is he so smiley? Is he seriously going to act like I didn't get rejected by him? Does he really think I can easily pretend that it never happen and go back to how things used to be? I guess he didn't take my confession seriously...He probably thinks that I am overreacting to something simple. I felt this uncomfortable tightening in my chest. I took a deep breath as my eyes watered. Right when I was thinking it couldn't hurt more than it did before... "Where are we going?"

"I'm looking for Red Tornado" I said not bothering to look at him as he tried to catch up to me. He grabbed my arm making me stop. I turned to look at him.

"Don't worry, I took care of him" He smiled at me, "he's not going to hurt you anymore" I looked at him confused. Why the hell was he smiling? This wasn't some super villain! It was Red Tornado! Our friend...how could he be smiling about this?

"w-what do you mean took care of?" I said worried, "D! What the hell is wrong with you?! That is not the right facial expression!"

"I saved you!" He argued, "he was going to kill you!"

"What did you do?!" I yelled at him.

"I handed him over to the Justice League" He shrugged. I started pacing back and forth. Uncle Bruce would do the right thing right? He'd scan him and turn him back to normal, then everything would be fine right. I want to see Red Tornado. I turned back to the woods. I had to see what the situation was with R.T. but again D pulled me back. I turned to look at him annoyed.

"What?!" I yelled annoyed.

"forget about Red Tornado" He smiled, "and let's go on a date"

"What?" I said looking at him confused and annoyed. He moved and I noticed that set up behind him was a table with candles and everything. I looked at him confused.

"Come on" He said pulling me towards the table. As I got closer, I saw the rose petals decorating it all around. There was lit candles in the center which I was going to question until I realized it was dark out now. I looked at the two sets of plates and utensils. The white table cloth making the petals really stand out.
