Chapter 25: Memories
Narrator
Robin entered the cave. Everyone was waiting for him curious on how his trip to D.C. was. He told them about it before he left and they offered to go along, but Robin wanted to go alone. Wally sped up to him eating potato chips.
"So how was D.C.?" Wally said, "anything good?" The others gathered around curious.
"What was the tracker?" Arti asked.
"Was it on a machine or what?" S.B. asked.
"No, I don't know why but the tracker lead me to a girl" Robin sighed scowling.
"Was she a criminal?" Kaldur asked
"No, I don't think so..." Robin said thinking. He was positive he never seen the girl before, but there was still something about her. Something that drew him to her. He couldn't get her out of his head since he left. "I save her life and she got mad at me! I mean when you save someone's life, what is usually the reaction?"
"Gratitude" Wally replied.
"Appreciation" Arti shrugged.
"Happiness" M'gann added.
"Yeah, well I got yelled at" Robin muttered.
"Was she trying to die?" Arti asked
"Well no..." Robin said, "but I probably was the one that put her in danger"
"Well that makes sense" Wally said rolling his eyes.
"So if she wasn't a criminal, why is there a tracker on her?" M'gann asked
"I don't know, but she's under the care of Wonder Woman" Robin shrugged, "so I'm not that worried about it." Even though he said that, he couldn't get the girl out of his head. She seemed so familiar, but he couldn't place her. He looked around. "How's Zatanna?"
"She still refuses to leave her room" M'gann replied.
"I'll go check on her" Robin said retreating from the others.
With Bruce.
He was in his office looking through his computer. He couldn't understand how he hasn't looked into this Gem girl before. He seemed to be at a dead end. He buried his face in his hands in frustration. He opened up a drawer to grab a pen, but found a file hidden in there. He looked at it curiously before grabbing it. He opened it up and there was a picture of a girl with brown hair and purple eyes. She was smiling and waving at the camera. He moved the picture and he read the report of the car crash accident of Alice and Dylan Pierce. He looked through the file starting to understand what the investigation was about, but what he didn't understand was why this file wasn't on the computer. He let out a sigh. He wasn't sure what was going on in his head. The investigation in this file was completed. He found the missing girl from the report. He was so distracted with the Gem investigation, he forgot about this case. He looked at the file as he tried to recall working on this case in the first place as he looked through the details. It was all in his writing. The major question was how'd the girl escape the car crash? He looked through trying to figure out how he answered that question, but he didn't seem to write that down anywhere. He looked at the file deciding to hand it over to the authorities and telling them to have a DNA test done to both Malcolm and the girl just to be sure. He heard a knock on the door.
