Little Yoongi
Caregiver Taehyung
The sound of a door slamming was heard throughout the house, announcing that a rather cranky Yoongi was home. It was rare for him to slam the door, but sometimes, the door was unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of his frustrations when he would have a rough day at work. Following the sound of the slam, heavy footsteps alerted the house's only other resident that Yoongi was stomping his way to the living room.
Once he got into the living room, Yoongi kicked off his shoes then plopped down onto the sofa. His shift at work had been stressful today, and he really needed to unwind and relax. Maybe he needed to vent a little too. The things he dealt with at his job were just so unfair sometimes, and he wanted to quit, but he didn't want to quit without having another job option ready. So for now, he was stuck with this stressful job.
"You want to talk about it?" came the voice of the only other person who lived in this house.
Yoongi looked over at the man who entered the living room and sighed heavily."Tae, what is so great about sugar cookies?"
Taehyung cocked his head a little to the side upon hearing that question."Well, they're delicious and great for festive celebrations." Seeing Yoongi's eyes narrow at that answer, he cleared his throat."I mean, they're nothing special." He corrected himself to not incur the wrath of cranky Yoongi."They may be good, but they're not the best. Any cookies could take their place."
Hunching forward a little, Yoongi placed his forearms on his knees and hung his head low."I hate sugar cookies."
"Why?" Stepping over to the sofa, Taehyung seated himself beside Yoongi. He placed a hand very lightly onto the other man's back, beginning to rub between his shoulder blades."Tell me all about it."
"I got yelled at today. Over sugar cookies." This was something that didn't make sense to Yoongi."Why do I get yelled at for things that are out of my control?" As he felt Taehyung's hand rub down his spine then back up, he could feel himself beginning to relax a tiny bit."A woman wanted big tins of sugar cookies, said they were for a Christmas party. She swore that her friend had bought big tins of sugar cookies at our store a few days ago, but we don't sell them. We only sell small boxes of sugar cookies, not big tins."
As Yoongi explained, Taehyung listened without a word. He just kept rubbing Yoongi's back with slow strokes. He wished he could help in some other way, but he also knew that this was something that really made Yoongi relax. Just slow strokes, up and down his back.
"I tried to explain to her that we don't sell big tins, but she wouldn't listen. She just kept yelling at me." The rubbing on his back was definitely helping Yoongi feel calmer. It was beginning to cause a tingling sensation in his scalp and neck that he really liked."I don't control what the store sells. I'm just a low-level employee. I just put things on the shelves. That's it."
Taehyung moved his other hand over and began to massage Yoongi's shoulders."Some people don't understand that, Hyung." As he massaged, a tender smile came over his lips when he saw Yoongi's eyes close."There are people who have never worked in retail, so they don't know that you have no control over that stuff."
"And some people are just rude and selfish." The tingling in Yoongi's scalp was getting stronger and even spreading to his shoulders as he enjoyed the massage he was receiving."I just...hate getting yelled at."
"I understand, Hyung. It must be frustrating to be yelled at like that and not be able to stand up for yourself." Taehyung knew that Yoongi could get in trouble if he stood up for himself against a rude customer and said anything that might cause the customer to report him.
"I hate it..." Yoongi was getting so relaxed from this simple massage. It was putting him at ease and making him a bit sleepy. He knew what was coming though. This was a normal thing to happen after a hard day at work. It always helped him de-stress. Giving in to the tingling sensation and desire to unwind, Yoongi shifted over to cuddle against Taehyung.
As soon as Yoongi cuddled to him, Taehyung stopped massaging his shoulders. Now, he wrapped an arm around the other man and held him close. He used his free hand to start sifting gently through Yoongi's hair. While it grew quiet between them, it was nice to see Yoongi visibly relax. His demeanor changed, like he was a whole new person. After several minutes of silence, Taehyung spoke in a low tone."How are you feeling, button?"
Yoongi cuddled more against Taehyung, his hand reaching to grab onto the front of the man's shirt."Sleepy, Papa..."
"Are you hungry?" Receiving a low-effort nod, Taehyung leaned down just enough to kiss the top of Yoongi's head."Why don't you play in your room while I make dinner?"
"Okay..." Yoongi really didn't want to move away from his papa's side, but he also liked playing, so he would obey this simple request.
With a smile, Taehyung kissed Yoongi's head again."Good boy. I'll make us some chicken and noodles." He watched with fondness as Yoongi got off the sofa and left the living room.
Yoongi made his way to his bedroom and yawned. He really was sleepy, but he knew that it wasn't time to sleep yet. It was time to play. That was okay though because he had the best playmate."Seokie!"
"Hey, little man." Hoseok was little Yoongi's best friend. He was always there to play and even told Yoongi stories late at night when he couldn't sleep."Are you ready to play?"
A wide grin overtook Yoongi's lips as he ran over to where Hoseok was sitting on the floor."Play with heroes?!"
"Of course. We can play with the heroes." Hoseok was always happy to play with whatever toys Yoongi wanted. He just loved to see him so excited.
Scampering over to the toy box that was next to his closet, Yoongi opened it and started pulling out his superhero action figures. Once he had all the figures that he could carry, he rushed to Hoseok and dropped all the figures onto the floor. Then, he grabbed one and held it out to his best friend."Be Superman!"
Accepting the action figure, Hoseok moved Superman around like he was flying."Who will you pick?"
Yoongi scrunched his nose as he looked at the figures, deciding which one he wanted. After a moment, he grabbed one."Hulk!" And just like that, he and Hoseok started to play. They made up scenarios of Superman and Hulk working together to save innocent people from imaginary villains. Occasionally, Yoongi would use Hoseok as a mountain or pretend he was skyscraper, making Hulk climb up his arms and head. He tried to balance the Hulk figure on Hoseok's head a couple times, but it would just fall to the floor as soon as he would let it go.
"Maybe Superman can help him stay up there." Hoseok suggested. He held the Superman figure out to Yoongi and watched the happy little take it.
"Superman helps cause he's Hulk's friend." Yoongi explained. In his imagination, this would work. He held Superman up with Hulk, imagining that Superman was holding the other up atop Hoseok's head.
Hoseok definitely approved of this way of thinking."Friends always help each other."
"Seokie." Yoongi sat on his knees and grinned happily at his best friend."Love you."
"I love you too, little man." Hoseok's attention was grabbed by the sound of a soft knock on Yoongi's open bedroom door. He looked over and saw Taehyung standing in the doorway.
Glad to see Yoongi having fun, Taehyung almost felt guilty about taking the little away from his toys."Dinner's ready, button." It never ceased to amaze him that Yoongi could have so much fun in his room by himself. At least he knew that meant Yoongi enjoyed his toys.
"Okay, Papa." Yoongi rose to his feet and dropped his action figures on the floor."Seokie have dinner too?"
That was a name Taehyung had gotten used to hearing. It was brought up almost every time Yoongi was little, simply chalked up to being an imaginary friend."Of course."
Looking back at Hoseok, Yoongi held a hand out to him."Come on, Seokie!"
Taehyung watched with interest as Yoongi's fingers curled, as if to hold another person's hand. It was so cute that the little had such an active imagination. Walking to the kitchen with Yoongi, Taehyung was just so happy to see that the stress of work was completely gone from Yoongi's mind, replaced by happiness and fun.
