3rd person POV I think

I might change it though.

Lexi pushed herself back from the hospital bed, positioning the guitar to a way that it was comfortable for her, and started to play a song that she knew by heart.

Also I just love the song, so yyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyy.

"There once was a bittersweet man and they called him 'Lemon Boy'..
He was growing in my garden and I pulled him out by his hair

       Like a weed."

She paused for a moment, glancing at Tom and looking around the room, concentrating on the door handle to see if it moved.

"And like weeds do, he only came and grew back again
So I thought this time I might as well let him bee."

Once she realized there was no immediate threat of embarrassment, she raised her volume a bit.

"Lemon boy and Me started to get along, together...
I helped him plant his seeds and we mowed the lawn
                    In bad weather.
                    It's actually pretty easy,"

She smiled, she couldn't help it.

"Being nice, to a bitter boy like him.
So I got myself a citrus friend."

Lexi heard footsteps but they didn't slow at the door. She let out a sigh of relief and continued.

"But soon his bittersweet started to rub off on me...
You'd think smelling like lemon zest would be
                         Pretty neat............
I found out that my friends are more of the
Savory type, and they weren't too keen on compromising
                        With a nice lemon pie."

She heard Tom shuffle slightly, but brushed it off.

"So Lemon Boy and Me, we just gotta get along together.
I'd help him plant his seeds and we'll mow the lawn
In bad weather. It's actually pretty easy, being nice
To a bitter boy like him, so I got myself..."

Lexi's heart jumped at the voice, Tom's, of course. A bit choked up.

"A citrus friend."

Lexi glanced over at him. Was he.. smiling? Is he not in any pain? She shook away these questions and smiled a bit more, continuing. Tom joined in, making it a strange but beautiful duet.

"But what if I run out of fertilizer?
What if the clouds run out of rain?
What if Lemon Boy won't grow no longer?

What if beaches dry of sugar cane?"

Lexi felt her eyes tearing up slightly, but she choked down her tears.

"The whales start to beach themselves,
Tortoise shells tear away from their spines."

She moved the chair back closer to the hospital bed, closer to Tom.

                             "It happens all the time....
                               It happens all the time.."

Neither of them even heard the door open, or the footsteps that followed. Lexi's guitar was too loud, I guess.

"Lemon Boy and I, we're gonna live forever."

Lexi let Tom take over for a line or two.

"Like Snufkin and Little My, we'll get around wherever.
Lemon Boy and I, we're gonna live forever."

Then Lexi returned with him.

"Like Snufkin and Little My, we'll get around wherever.
It's actually pretty easy, being nice to a bitter boy like him."

Matt and Edd, which was were the unheard footsteps originated, decided to join and scare the crap out of Lexi and Tom ;D. They kept their cool, though.

"Cause we're the bitterest boys in town,
                                    Yeah we're the bitterest around."

Lexi's playing faltered a bit, simply giving more 'sound-room' (?) for the four voices filling the room.

"And now I got myself a citrus friend."
