Four gunshots rang out. The man with the gun sprinted back out through the display window that he had broken.
Though this was not her first time being shot, Kathryn couldn't do anything but stare down in shock.
Three bullets had lodged in Kathryn's abdomen, tearing through vital organs.
She sank to her knees and from there, collapsed on the floor. She pressed her hands against the wounds, trying to stop the blood.
"Abe, call the police."
Kathryn lay on the floor, writhing in pain, as the shop owner ran to another room to get to the phone.
She cried out in pain as a cold hand pried her hands from her bloody abdomen.
"I'm Doctor Henry Morgan, I'm going to help you. I need you to calm down." A semi-frantic voice said.
Kathryn's blood ran cold as one thought entered her mind and took over her brain.
I'm going to die, and this man is going to see my body disappear. My secret will come out.
Only moments after that, Kathryn took a rattling breath and gasped in pain as the amount of blood that was gushing out of the wound increased, and stopped breathing.
Dr. Morgan's heart stopped for a moment when she stopped breathing. The light had left her eyes and they glazed over.
He stared in shock at the girl. She looked to be only in her teenage years. She offered her life for Abe's life and his own life. If only she had known that Henry was immortal. Kindness had killed her.
Henry was about to stand up and join Abe when he saw the girl's body start to fade away.
He rubbed his eyes, thinking that maybe he was in shock and hallucinating. He wasn't.
Her body disappeared from the red carpeting.
Henry's eyes widened in surprise.
"Abe!!!" He yelled, to shocked to move.
Abe walked into the room and stared at Henry's bloody hands.
"You haven't called the police yet have you?" Henry asked, not bothering to hide the panic in his voice.
"No. Henry, what happened? Where is she?"
Henry stared at the ground for a few moments.
"Abe... She's- She's..." Henry looked up at Abe and took a deep breath. "She's immortal." he choked out, eyes wide with fear.
