Half of me writes because I have to,
as an exercise for the soul
The other half wants to relate
to people, and for them to relate
Then we're both not alone in feeling
There is nothing like the feeling
of reading
watching
listening to
something you relate to
When it catches you somewhere
you don't look often,
and you're hooked
on the very next word
and that word possesses you
There is nothing like the feeling
of writing
singing
performing something
that changes a person
When it catches them,
and they have no choice
but to latch on
to your creation
that's not really yours
and there the two of you are
suspended in space and time
from the inside out
