SOTD: FALL IN LOVE BY PHANTOGRAM
>SORRY FOR HOW LONG THIS UPDATE TOOK :( I'M GOING TO TRY AND FINISH THIS BY DEC 15 SO I CAN ENTER IT INTO THE WATTY'S THIS YEAR ! WISH MEH LUCK ;)<
I went through the rest of the week gathering information on each of the victims with Penn on my mind...and not for the reason you're probably thinking.
I watched as Penn and London got closer, only with slight jealousy, but kept thinking back to my conversation with Rachel. I mean, yeah I knew Penn was bad news but to now know that he had some kind of hand in what had happened to Mckenna Allister?
That was something I couldn't wrap my head around.
The way he had watched with sympathy as we all grieved Essie confused the heck out of me. Had he been secretly laughing the entire time? Rachel had remained adamant on the fact that Mckenna wasn't a druggie and that the only connection she had to moonshine was through Penn...that also happened to be the case with Marnie Williams and Russel Adams as well.
"London, can I talk to you?" It was the following Tuesday after school and the entire gang was pouring over the pictures of the victims, linking information to photos.
"Yeah, sure" She gave me a warm smile, which she had oddly been doing all week, and got up from where she sat next to Nate. Her pink tulle skirt made a slight rustling sound as she stood up and I took a breath as I pulled her up the stairs.
"It was Penn"
London opened her mouth and closed it, staring at me in absolute confusion, "Huh?"
"I've talked to Mckenna Allister's friend Rachel, Marnie Williams' brother Criss, and Russel Adams' girlfriend Lorli...they've all given me the same name" Despite having a rocky relationship with London, I knew that I needed to tell her this before I took it to the gang...it was, like, girl-code or something.
I watched as she took a deep breath and looked at the ground, "That's not possible"
"Londo~"
"Penn isn't like that!" She hissed, "Penn would never hurt anyone"
"He's a drug dealer, London! What do you expect?" I couldn't believe that her, of all people, was acting like she didn't know about Penn's past.
"Past tense! He doesn't do that anymore" London's bottom lip trembled and I could tell it was taking every fibre of her being to stay strong.
We stood silent for a second before I sighed, "He's still selling"
Her eyes shot up to look at me, "What?"
"I saw him exchanging something with some guy the night of that party...Unless they were swapping numbers in plastic baggies, Penn is still selling"
"Who else knows?" She refused to meet my eyes and I shook my head.
"No one"
"Keep it that way" She began to walk away but I quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her back.
"Are you crazy? I'm not keep this from the rest of them" I couldn't believe she was trying to tell me to withhold evidence that could help the case.
The moment her eyes met mine again, I swallowed deeply as her gaze bore holes into my skull, "If you tell anybody, so help me God, I will tell them the truth"
"The truth? What other truth could there really be, besides Penn having some kind of hand in all of this?" I hissed looking over the banister, hoping I wasn't letting my anger take control.
