Marquee

She looked at me skeptically. I understood why. She hadn't formally introduced herself to Ashay at all. It was always pass and go between them two. I'm surprised she doesn't remember Ashay flirting with her at one point before me and her had really started getting serious or busy. Very busy.

I pulled up away from Dia and stood up. She was still seated on the floor contemplating. There wasn't really much to think about. All she had to do was introduce herself.

"Marquee, I don't think that's a good idea." She said to me. I looked down at her confused.

"Why not?" I asked her.

"Well, because for one, I don't think anyone wants to find out they're pregnant in front of other people and I don't know this girl. I don't want things to be awkward." She said looking up at me. Andreé planted his butt on her lap and handed her a blue lego.

"Boo." He said to her. She smiled down at him and nodded.

"Yeah blue baby. Good job. Find me a green." She said to him sweetly. It was crazy seeing her communicate with him knowing in her head, that he was a burden for her; a mistake. My dads mistake. It reminded me so much of Navia's story.

If somehow, they granted Ashay full custody of Leah because Navia was under watch, we'd be in too deep and doing what we'd done weeks ago, would be a pain in the ass. I didn't have a problem with two kids, but the way we'd planned things out going forth, included both of us working after one another until she was ready to drop. Then again now that I thought of it, she didn't have work at all, but I knew how active she was. She'd hate staying in the house. Maybe I could plan little outdoor activities for her and Leah to do while I was at work. I thought as I watched them interact between one another.

Andreé got up, toddled a couple of feet away from her and started crawling around before picking up a red LEGO. He examined it like he was in deep thought and threw it down on the ground with so much force before he started yelling at it. I looked back at Diamond worried as she crawled to him and pulled him into her lap sighing. "Stop. It's okay Dre." She said to him as he whimpered and rubbed at his eyes.

"What the fuck was that?" I asked her. She looked concerned herself and rubbed her face.

"I don't know. He just has these anger outburst. He's just two so it's weird to see. I'm thinking maybe it's just his terrible two's especially since his teeth are starting to grow in more." She said to me as she rubbed his back. He laid up against her and started chatting away like he was actually saying something. Then he smacked her upside the head. I bucked my eyes at him.

I tried my best not to pull him up by his arm and smack him on the behind. Who did he think he was hitting my sister? "That's not an excuse for you to let him hit you Diamond. If this shit continues, ima have to square up on that lil nigga. Nephew or not." I said to her as I pulled him up out of her arms. My last straw was when he started pulling her dreads.

"He's just a baby." She said to me chuckling as she pulled his hands away from her locs.

"Baby or not. This lil demon got my dad genes." I said clenching my jaw at him. He giggled at me like I wasn't a threat to him. "You need to get him checked out before he starts acting up real bad. I doubt you want to get phone calls during work while he's in school like I did growing up." I reminded her. She nodded. We both know what that was like for mom, except Diamond didn't have anyone beating her because of Andreé. Instead, she'd have concerned parent teacher conferences and probably even a house call from CPS on her ass about why he was being the way he was.
