The room is silent. After Jack spoke those words, nobody knew what to say. The only sounds were the sounds of Jack's cries.
"H-how am I going to do this alone?" Jack asks with a raspy voice.
"You won't be alone, J. You'll always have us. I'm going to call Logan and Brendan. They really wanna see the baby, alright?" Jonah says.
Jack nods and the older male leaves the room.
The doctor comes in to show Jack how to swaddle the baby and how to change diapers. He leaves after giving the news that the baby will be able to come home the next morning.
Soon enough, Logan and Brendan come in, both eager to see the new member of the group.
"What're you going to name her?" Logan asks as he holds the baby.
"Lavender. It is the name Gabbie had insisted on," the new dad responds as he smiles brightly at the baby.
"Welcome to the world, baby Lavender" Daniel coos at the small baby before hugging Jack.
"What's up with you two? You seem closer than you have been" Brendan asks.
"Oh right, yeah. We sorta maybe possibly got back together last night" Daniel smiles, looking to the ground when realizing he shouldn't smile when Jack just lost a close friend.
Jack kisses his boyfriend's cheek and takes Lavender back in his arms. Soon enough, she is asleep and the nurse agrees to set up a cot for Jack to stay. Normally, the baby and father would just stay with the mother in recovery, but that isn't possible here. Jack hugs all of his friend's goodbye. Jonah promises that they will orepare the nursery, a room they had added to the house, before she comes home. He also promised not to touch any of Gabbie's things. Jack should be the one to do that, at least that's what the curly haired boy insists on.
Jack falls asleep to the sound of the hospital, with tears running down his face.
