*two months later*
Daniel wakes up in the middle of the night to find his bed empty. He looks at the time.
2:14 am.
He slides out of bed and goes into the nursery, seeing Jack sitting in the rocking chair, holding a giggling Lavender.
"Hey babygirl," Daniel coos as he picks the baby up from his boyfriend's arms.
Lavender plays with Daniel's shirt as she giggles.
"Let's get you a bottle, yea?" Daniel leaves the room with the baby on his hip.
He heats up the bottle under the faucet, tests it on his skin, then begins to feed the baby. Once she is fed and burped, he returns to the nursery and lays her down softly. He turns around to see Jack is still asleep. He shakes the curly haired male's shoulder gently.
"Baby, wake up," he says, causing Jack to jump out of the chair.
"What happened? Where is Lav!?" Jack asks frantically when his arms feel empty.
"Hey, relax, she is in the crib asleep. Let's go get in bed. You and I haven't slept in the same bed since..." Daniel doesn't have to finish his sentence for Jack to know what he was going to say.
"I can't leave her. Her room is so far from ours. What if there was an intruder, or a fire, or-"
"Baby, baby, baby, it is all okay. How about we move her to the bassinet in our bedroom?" Daniel suggests.
"Yeah... that could work," Jack nods.
Daniel smiles and goes to pick Lavender up, Jack jumping in between the two before he can. Daniel sighs and lets the fellow brunette pick up the baby. Daniel goes into the bedroom ahead of Jack and prepares the bassinet for Lavender. Once the baby is in the bassinet, Daniel physically drags Jack to the bed and the two lay down. The two fell asleep. This didn't last long, as every half hour or so, Jack wakes up and uses a small compact mirror to make sure Lavender is still breathing. This is a nightly thing for him, but since he usually sleeps in the nursery, nobody has learned of it. Tonight, as he slips out of bed for the seventh time, Daniel sits up. He watches Jack take a mirror and bend into the bassinet.
"What are you doing?" Daniel asks, feeling guilty as the other jumps in fear.
"Shit you scared me," he says.
"Sorry, but what are you doing?" Daniel repeats.
"Just checking on her," Jack says quietly.
