Keeping Secrets

The Beginning

Nicole and Niaomi are in the middle of moving boxes to their new home. The new neighborhood isn't the best but it is definitely better than where they lived before. Within the first six weeks of getting settled in the girls join an organization that teaches boxing. This is where they meet Trevon.

Nikki : Hey Nia, is this how you do the right hook?

Nia : How you do wha... Oh Shi...!

Nikki : Oh my god! I am so sorry.

Tre : Dam girl. I think you got it down pack.

Nikki : Are you ok? I am really sorry.

Tre : Don't worry bout it lil mama.

Nikki : You sure, you got hit pretty hard; Is there anything I can do?

Tre : Well it would make me feel better if I knew your name.

Nikki : (laughing) It's Nicole, and this is my best friend Niaomi.

Nia : Hey. You not gonna sue us right?

Tre : Nah, I would definitely lose to you two beautiful ladies.

Nia & Nikki : (smile)

Tre: Plus even if I wanted to sue you, you could probably say that in your defense, I did walk through an occupied ring without announcing myself. So really it's my fault.

Nia: You know, that's true. Nikki make sure you write that down. Just in case, of course.

Tre : So Nicole, Niaomi, may my friends and I take you guys out to eat after this, or y'all already have plans?

Nia : Well... I have some projects to complete, but Nicole here is completely free.

Tre : That's too bad, cause I'm pretty sure you would like my friends. I mean clearly you already like me.

Nikki : Oh is that so.

Tre : What, you don't like me?

Nikki: Boy we just met you.

Nia : What she meant to say is you seem pretty cool, considering she just punched you.

Tre: (laughing) Oh ok, so how about it Ms. Power punch. You free for a night out?

Nikki: (smiling) umm I don't know. I mean we just moved down here a few weeks ago.... And Nia might need help with her work.

Nia: She'll be ready. Here is her number, you can call her in about an hour. See you soon.

After the lesson the girls went home and Nia helped Nikki get ready. When Tre showed up he had Malike with him. Nia invited the boys in for a second while they waited on Nikki. Tre introduced Malike and while he was talking all Malike did was smile and stare at Nia. And she did the same.

Malike: You didn't want to come with us?

Nia: Oh, no, it's nothing personal I just have some work to do and in order to get it done right I'm going to have to pull an all nighter.

As Nikki and Tre left, Malike offered to stay and help Nia with her project for the Art and Design internship. Malike was very, into out of the box projects especially art related ones.

Malike: So what's the topic?

Nia: It's supposed to be a painting of what you most desire, your number one love, or a dream. And then I still have a song I need to finish writing.

Malike: Oh ok. I love art, and music. Drawing is my life. Literally. I actually have my own art studio downtown, and it doubles as a recording studio; so now I have both of my passions in one.
