~ Silver ~
Unfortunately, the joy we felt in the common room didn't last very long.
When we made it to the great Hall for lunch at 12.30, nobody was speaking, nobody was laughing or having fun with their friends like normal.
The whole Hufflepuff table was silent and not one single soul there was touching their food.
Cho Chang was in tears at the Ravenclaw table and surrounded by a crowd of apologetic friends.
But probably the worst part overall was that everyone's gazes were turned to poor Harry.
There were people staring at him or muttering things to their friends as they walked past.
Some people came to congratulate him, but the only ones that did were in Gryfindor.
We all took our seats at our table then Dumbledore stood, causing everyone to fall silent.
"Now I want every one of you to be at the end of year feast tonight, as there will be a memorial held for Cedric Diggery. Now all of you finish your lunch and go to your dormitories to pack your trunks!" He said before leaving his podium and walking to his seat.
We finished off our lunch and all walked to the common room together.
We gave the fat lady the password then once inside the common room, slipped into our dormitories.
Hermoine dragged me into mine and just as I started to pack my trunk, she waved her wand and both of ours started packing themselves.
"Thanks moine, that's brilliant" I cried.
We linked arms and skipped to Ginny's room where she waved her wand again sending all of Ginny's things into her trunk. Once satisfied that it was packing itself we dragged her to our room and jumped into our beds.
"It feels weird to be leaving, we're coming back next year of course but it's still weird not being here over the summer" I said as I made sure I had a bag of clothes I could wear tonight and on the train home tomorrow.
Hermoine did the same.
"I know, but at least I won't be stuck at home with four of my brothers alone." Ginny said happily.
"I wish I could visit you in the holidays but I can't until the last few weeks" Hermoine said glumly.
"Don't worry moine, we'll owl you every week!" Ginny and I exclaimed.
"You promise?" She said a bit happier.
"Pinky promise" We said childishly as we held out our pinkies towards her.
She smiled before linking them with her own.
"Come on let's go to the common room until the feast." I said as I pulled the girls up and out of the room, into the common room.
We waited there talking quietly amongst ourselves until it was time for the feast.
We fixed eachothers uniforms and checked our hair then walked out of the portrait hole followed by the rest of Gryfindor.
Instead of the usual decorations of the winning houses colours, the banners in the great Hall were all black as a sign of respect to Cedric.
The whole hall went silent as Dumbledore began to speak.
"Cedric was a good and loyal friend. He was a hard worker and valued fair play. His death affected you all whether you knew him or not" We all stayed silent, my mind flooded with memories of being at the world cup and talking to him, him always being so kind to Ginny and I "I therefore think that you deserve to know what happened... Cedric Diggery was murdered by Lord Voldemort. The Ministry does not wish for me to tell you this, but not to do so would be an insult to his memory" He stood up and raised his goblet, everyone else following suit. "Remember Cedric, remember Cedric Diggery."
The whole hall filled with murmurs of "Cedric Diggery"
I let a few silent tears slip out of my eyes which I didn't bother to wipe away.
I noticed that my brother and his friends were sitting down, and not touching their goblets just glaring at them.
I ignored them and sat down with everyone else.
I didn't eat much that night.
Nobody did.
Even Ron who usually has three helpings only had one.
We finished our meal in silence before being dismissed to our common rooms.
"This is our last night at Hogwarts for the year" I said quietly as we all sat down in our corner.
Everyone else mumbled "I know" or "I can't believe it" in response.
I was in between Harry and Ginny, my head on Harrys shoulder and Ginny's on mine.
None of us spoke much about what had happened, we just thought about how we were so lucky that we hadn't lost Harry that night.
I shivered at the fact that Voldemort meant for Harry to die that night. Harry was the one he wanted dead.
At 10, Hermoine and I walked into our room and fell asleep, Ginny having gone to sleep before us and the boys just after.
I walked lazily to my small bag and pulled out the pajamas while I put my uniform in my trunk.
