Upon entering his room, Jun found his sister trying to spike his volleyball against the wall. Her hit was obviously weak, as she was sitting on the floor, but she was still leaving a mark on the pale paint.
"How was your lesson with your new boyfriend?"
Jun sat down beside her, leaning his back against his bed as he slapped her hands.
"Tōru is my friend."
Keiko chuckled and started to sign again, the volleyball in her lap.
"I know I'm just pulling your leg."

Jun took the ball from her and held it in his own lap. The air around them was light.
"What are you doing in here?" Jun asked, keeping his expression neutral as to not convey discomfort.
"I'm definitely not putting a dent in your wall."
"You don't play volleyball, so I don't know why you have such a fascination with my stuff."
"I just want to make sure you're doing well. It's not like mom and dad sit down and talk to us."
"They try."
"I know, you dweeb, but I'm always the one that finds you when you come home crying. Expect me to be nosy."

Jun scratched his ear, the bumpy skin rubbing up against his smooth finger.
"I'm going to his place tomorrow to practice."
"Who? The pretty boy?"
Jun once again slapped her hands.
"Kei, he has a name."
"I know, I know. Is that your only volleyball?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Kami is begging me to bring her to the park so I can show her some volleyball moves."
Jun knew his little sister liked to watch volleyball. When she first began to speak it was all she would talk about.
"You don't even know how to receive." Jun retorted to Keiko.
"Ace said she was gonna help me. Kami admires you a lot, Jun. She really wants to do this."
"Okay, Okay. You can use it. It's not that big a deal."

Keiko tapped her foot against him, smiling as she rose her hands to sign again.
"You guys have a second tournament, right?"
"Yes, to go to the spring Nationals."
"You better get there, because I wanna see my friends play again."
Jun huffed.
"And you! Of course."
"Of course," He lazily signed, rolling his eyes.

"Well, I hope you and pretty boy get to Nationals then."
Jun shook his head.
"Only one representative for Miyagi. Yamagata has two."
"Tōru and you aren't on the same team?"
"No."
Keiko blew a raspberry as she stood up. She ran her fingers through his soft brown hair, the gentle waves weaving between her fingers.
His deep cerulean eyes peered up at her concerned face.

"It sounds like you've got a problem," her hand snapped as she spoke to him. "Opponents working together."
"I think he's trying to make up for something."
"The thing that happened at your game?"
"No. I think he's trying to make up for something he's missing in himself."
