Hey! I want to explain some things that weren't concluded and share what my plans were for things that I wanted to happen but never did.
First things first, I'm sorry for the roller coaster concerning love interests!
I'm not sure how many picked up on it, but canonically, Tsukishima and Iwaizumi both had crushes on Jun.
I couldn't help myself when the boy has such good chemistry with everyone. Also, a little angst never hurt anyone.
A bonus here is that Atsumu was meant to also have a crush on him, mostly cause I thought it would be funny if three different people from three different sets of twins liked him. (Tōsō, not Tsukishima)
But I didn't have enough time to write in the Youth Camp Arc.The Bonus Chapters for act 2 are for the Youth Camp and Nationals arc, since I had planned content for them, but not enough to stretch out into multiple chapters.
Secondly, Jun's hearing aids.
I was going to implement them during the Nationals Arc, but realized that I would never be able to stretch this story far enough.
The plan was that he'd wear them, but they'd be knocked out during a game, resulting in his absence. It was okay in concept, but I couldn't implement it.
I kinda like leaving him with the idea of wearing them. Maybe it's up to you on whether you think he wears them!To confirm with my OC's, Ace and Ruby are dating and Bōeisa and Ichika are dating.
Yay Lesbians.
They did take up a lot of the second act, but I hope it was fun to see them!Since some people have shared concern over sign names, I do want to assure that I did think them through.
Sign names in this story are important just as they are in real life. They are meant to demonstrate relationships, sorta like honorifics.
Hinata's is childish and simple since that's how Jun and him are together.
Tōru's is sentimental, Asahi's has experience, and Tsukishima's is based on exactly as it is-trust.Thridly, I want to talk about the development of this story, mostly Jun as a character, since who he is, is very important to me.
I hadn't even finished season one of the show when I wanted to write a fanfic for it.
Jun was deaf before he became anything else, as deafness is a huge part of my life and I tend to apply it to a lot of things. My concept writer made him male, which I'm happy with, since there aren't many male characters for Haikyuu fics.
The original love interest of the story was Nishinoya and then I changed it to Hinata. Granted, I hadn't met a lot of the others characters yet, so they were my first picks. I fell in love with Oikawa, so he became the interest and I was content with it-thank goodness! Most importantly, Jun being Trans was not planned by me. My concept writer told me that I should do it and I will admit that I was hesitant.
I had no experience writing a trans character before and I was honestly afraid of backlash for doing it.
But I've realized that that fear and worry I felt about writing a transgender character, is how real transgender people feel. All the time. I had no place to be embarrassed or worried about something that doesn't deserve such a reaction.
As part of the LGBTQ community myself, I felt that I should do my best to represent people that deserve love, respect, and life without fear.I do hope that I have represented a deaf character well enough for you and I hope that I've written a trans character well. My whole plan was to weave in details to hint or imply. I wanted it to feel natural and not a big deal.
I am very thankful that my comments remained respectful. Finally, I want to give my final thanks and open the floor for any questions I may not have answered.
Your support on Chinmoku has meant the world.
Thanks!
