JENNIE

"Jennie wake up. Open your eyes. Come on baby." I heard my mom's voice but it's too distant. All I can see is black.

Black everywhere.

Where am I?

"Jennie, honey please wake up." It's getting nearer. I tried opening my eyes, hoping to see where the voice is coming from.

"That's good my baby, open your eyes. You're doing great." It was all blurry, and so I blinked multiple times to adjust my eyesight.

All white.

"M-Mom?" I croaked.

"I'm here sweetie. Open your eyes." The first thing I saw is my mom and my dad's face.

"Charles, call the doctors. Jennie's awake." My mom said and I saw my dad left to go outside.

"Why am I here mom?"

My mom creased her eyebrows. "You don't remember anything?" She asked and I shook my head. The door swung open revealing a few doctors and some nurses.

"Welcome back Jennie. I'm happy to see you awake." The doctor said.

"Doc, she can't remember anything." My mom asked, her voice is laced with panic and fear.

"It's normal due to her head trauma but we will run a few more test to be sure." The doctor answered. Everyone is smiling at me. "Thank you for waking up Jennie." They gave me flowers as a welcome and thank you gift before leaving me alone with my parents.

I held my head that was starting to ache. "Jennie sweetie, are you okay?" My dad asked and I nodded. "I'm o-okay dad, it's bearable."

"Tell me what happened mom? Why am I here?"

My mom heaved a deep sigh, holding my hand for her to caress. "We were packing our bags, putting it inside our car. It was the day we were gonna transfer to Busan due to your father's work, but unfortunately," she stopped, wiping her tears away.

"You got hit by a car in the side walk. The driver is so drunk. I thought... I thought we are gonna lose you." My mom started crying and my dad immediately comforted her.

"I've been in a coma for how many months dad?"

"Years sweetie. 3 years and we never gave up knowing that you will come back to us. You are our one and only angel. Thank you for coming back. Thank you for waking up..." My dad kissed my forehead and I felt comfort and security spread in my heart.

"Thank you for not giving up on me mom and dad. I love you."

It's been 2 weeks since I woke up and here I am in the hospital's garden, walking around letting the cold breeze hit me.

I miss it.

But there's something bothering me, my dream I know I had a long dream but I can't seem to remember it. Any of it.

Their voices.

Their faces.

Or even a small glimpse of their existence.

None.

Like they are all gone when I woke up.

I sat down on one of the benches, closing my eyes to let all my worry fade. It's good to be back. I don't know if I want to remember those dreams or not.

I don't even know if it was a dream or a nightmare but I need to bury and forget that thing. I'm alive and everything is back to normal. All I need to do now is to get back on the track. Maybe meet with my old friends or enroll in a University. I will just take an acceleration exam so I can keep up.

"Hi."

I opened my eyes squinting it a little before blocking the sun using my hand. "Oh, hi." I greeted back.

"Are you new here? I mean I'm always here but I never saw you." She said with a smile.

"No, just got out in a long sleep." I joked and she chuckled. "How about you? Are you a patient here?"

She shook her head. "Nope. I'm always here waiting for my sister to finish her duty. She's a doctor here."

"By the way, what's your name?" She asked. Well, maybe this is my chance to have a new friend.

"I'm Jennie. Jennie Kim."

"Jennie Kim?! Wait a minute." She looked at me, scanning my whole face making me confuse. "Ah y-yeah? Why?" Her eyes widen.

"Oh god! It really is you!" She shouted. "Okay I'm sorry. I'm Lisa! Lisa Manoban! The girl you saved from the bullies when we were in our 5th grade!"

My eyes widen in surpise. "Lisa the skinny girl?!" I asked and she chuckled. "Yep, that's me."

"It's been ages! How have you been Jennie? What happened to you?" She asked and I told her the whole story that my mom told me.

"Are you okay now?" She asked while checking every part of me. "Are you still hurt?" Her eyes shows concern and it made my heart jump.

"I-I'm okay now Lisa. Don't worry." I hid my crimson cheeks using my hair.

"Lisa!" The girl with a white coat behind her called her name, that I assumed is her sister. She looked at her back before waving.

"Jennie I need to go. My sister is already calling me. Uhm, c-can I have your number?" She scratched her nape, fidgeting at her spot.

"I still don't have a phone right now but give me your number and I promise I'll text you immediately if I already got a new phone." I saw her eyes sparkles before getting a sheet of paper writing her number down.

"Here. Don't lose that okay? See you around Jennie." She waved at me before running towards her sister but then she stopped.

"Uhm, Jennie?" She called and I raised my eyebrow at her. "Can I visit you tomorrow?" I chuckled at her cute state before nodding my head.

"You can visit me anytime Lisa."

I saw her did a victory dance before winking at me then she left.

"And besides, I miss that cute skinny girl and for the record," I stopped. "Puberty really hits her."

"She looks beautifully handsome."

I was thinking if I should do some flashback of Lisa but I remembered it's Jennie's dream.
