You sat down in the cell. You didn't put in your earbuds like your normally did, you just sat there. Upa, who was meditating when you had come in, noticed that you were back. He went over to thank you for the food. He wasn't usually the one to do this kind of thing, but he felt he should. He tapped you on the shoulder, thinking you had your earbuds in. You didn't respond, and when he saw your earbuds on the ground, he figured something was up. "(y/n)?" he said aloud, causing you to look up from the floor. You let out a small 'hmm' sound. "Thanks for the anman. You did a good job with it." You had completely forgotten about that due to the interaction you had just gotten out of. His statement jogged your memory though, and you felt heat rise to your cheeks against your permission and, despite your current state, you gave a small, but genuine smile. "T-thanks." Though the mask hid your mouth, he could see the smile in your eyes. He hums in response before walking off to his usual spot in his cell. While you were happy that you had done well, your thoughts were soon consumed again with you dark thoughts. You knew his ways as you had been part of them before. He like to play what you had named 'cat and mouse' you named it this because he like to play with his victims before he had them ended, like a cat would do to a mouse before its imminent demise. He didn't do it with everyone, just with people of special interest. You see, in his mind, killing someone quickly with, say a gunshot to the head, wouldn't be a good way of revenge. It was quick and painless. The person didn't get to suffer enough. He could have just tortured them physically sure, but he would rather watch their mental state deteriorate before going in for the kill. He would give hint. Hints only that person could see. It would be a simple note or a visit from one of his henchmen like he had decided to do with you. For those he really wanted to mess with, he would wait a long time before doing something. He watched happily as they became paranoid, locking themselves into their houses. He made sure that it was impossible to contact anyone for help. He did this by various methods. Making the story sound too outlandish for others to believe, forcing the person to make a deal, etc. The ties to others were always severed. Though it was rare, some prepared for the fight. Of course they would lose, they knew they would, but yet they still prepared. You had always admired when people did that. They wanted to die with pride, their finger on the trigger. While you admired when they did it, he hated it. It meant that they died with pride (something he didn't want happening) 'I'm going to do that' you thought to yourself. 'I won't let him get to me. I can't' you would give it your all. Heck, why not make him angrier? You were already probably going to die, so why not mess with him a bit. You knew he wanted to drive you insane. He wanted to make you reclusive. He wanted you to cut all of your ties. But you never agreed to that. You said that you wouldn't get them involved. That didn't mean you couldn't be friends with them. "LIGHTS OUT" shouted the guard, startling you out of your thoughts. Upa watched you as you made your way to your bed which wasn't that hard as it was right beside his. You had closed your eyes, but he could tell that you weren't sleeping. His observations were interrupted by Qi snoring. You opened your eyes slightly just in time to watch Upa throw a shoe at him. You chuckled. You closed your eyes and went back to your thoughts. They were a stark contradiction to your bold thought you were having just a few minutes ago. As you laid there in the dark, you realized all of the flaws in your plan. You didn't bother thinking about getting hurt (and/or killed) as it was inevitable. You had already forced yourself to accept that aspect. Instead, you thought of the pain your death would bring to others. You had always been the one to put others first, so you worried about this the most. You were already very close to Samon, so he would be sad. You were also friends with Momoko and Samon along with some of the other guards, so they would be sad. You feared that they would blame themselves for your death. You also thought about how if you went along with your plans of becoming closer friends with your new cell mates, they would also be sad. Then there was also the possibility of them finding out and trying to intervene. You shivered at the thought as the phrase "collateral damage" crossed your mind. You pushed that thought away. 'Wouldn't that be cruel?' you asked yourself. 'To give someone something knowing that it would be taken away soon.' 'Soon.' You thought. 'How soon is soon?' You had stalked people for months under his orders, messing with them before killing them. The more that that person had wronged him, the longer he tortured them. The longest you had stalked was around 6 months. 'But what if he's so angry that he wants to get it over with quickly?" There had been occasions where he had let his fury take the lead and demanded that the person be killed that same day, though usually in an agonizingly slow way. Thoughts thrashed about in your mind. You couldn't focus on one for too long before another came crashing in. 'should I be friends with them?' 'When is he going to come?' 'How long do I have left?' 'What is Samon going to think?' 'Who's going to find my body?' these along with a million other thoughts swirled frantically about in your mind, giving you a headache. They were constantly moving, constantly changing, until, 'what if this never happened?' You had often wandered this. What if you had normal parents? What would it be like if you didn't have these accursed powers? Wouldn't it be nice if you had never had to see him? You smiled at the thought. It was only a matter of seconds before this thought became just another part of the swirling storm inside of your head. You looked at the time. 12:37. Lights off was at 9 o'clock sharp. Had you really been awake that long? You sighed. This is exactly what he wanted. To make you go crazy. To keep you up at night. You hated that you were falling victim to it. You wanted to go to sleep, you really did. Anything to rid you of these thoughts. 'But what if...' your mind carried on. You sighed as you laid there in the dark, begrudgingly allowing your mind to spiral into darkness.
