When you woke up, the sun still hadn't risen. You checked the time. The clock reader '5:07.' Though it was a little earlier that what you usually woke up, you decided that you would do some extra training. You shivered as you remembered the events of last night. You vaguely remembered crying, but you shook it off. You got dressed. As you were doing so, you picked up your mask. You stared at it for a while before tossing it under your bed. You were about to walk out of the door, but then remembered to take your pills. You popped them into your mouth and walked back to the door. Just as you were about to walk out again, you looked into the room full of your still sleeping cell mates, then at Upa. You didn't know why you had come to trust him so much. You chuckled to yourself as you remembered the promise you made to yourself while in your waiting cell before being transferred to Namba.
(Flashback)
You sat on the cold ground, rubbing the bruises on your wrist that the hand cuffs left. You weren't even struggling, why'd they put them on so hard? You were so confused, scared, and heartbroken. You had just left everything that you had ever know behind. And not only that, you had found out that everything you had ever known was a lie. The very foundation of what you had built your entire life on had been completely shattered. You already knew that Xié'è would be coming for you. You would have happily fought him then and there, even though you probably would have lost. 'Okay' you thought, bringing you knees up to your chest 'I can't get anyone else hurt. I've already hurt so many people.' You felt your eyes burn at the thought of hurting anyone else. You decide to make a promise to yourself. You place your hand over your heart. 'I promise to make no friends and to not get close to anyone in order to keep them from harm.' You said in your head. You didn't think it would be so hard. After all, it was just solitude. How hard could it be?
(End of flash back)
It turns out that it was very hard. Samon had done everything to get you to talk. And eventually, you did. Months passed and you had broken your promise already, though you no longer thought about that. Xié'è was off your mind for the time being. That was until Shen decided to pay you a little visit. And now you had accidentally dragged Upa into this. You stared at Upa for a bit, before making the decision. You walked quietly over to him, careful not to wake anyone else. "Upa." You whispered, gently shaking him. He tiredly moaned, stretching before rubbing his eyes. He opened them a second later, looking at you in a daze. "What happened?" he asked, still half asleep. His hair was a mess and his clothes were disheveled. 'Cute' you thought as you began to speak, "Come on, get up and get dressed." You said, still whispering. "Why?" He asked, slightly more awake. "You'll see. Hurry up" He was about to question you, but then decided against it. He got dressed quickly, you averting your eyes as he did so. Pretty soon, he walked to your side, now fully dressed. "Where are we going?" he asked as you opened up the cell door. You smirked as he walked out and shut the door. Without warning, you took off. Upa was confused, but soon took off after you. He noticed that as you ran, the balls of your feet barely touched the floor, unlike him who ran on the balls of his feet. You seemed so be able to run a bit faster by doing this, so Upa imitated it. He found that he had a bit more control and was able to go a little faster. Pretty soon, you both arrived at your training ground. "What are we doing here so early?" Upa asked, panting. You had been trained with a resistance mask (if you don't know, it's a mask that restricts breathing a bit to improve respiratory muscles. In other words, it helps you get out of breath less if used for a while), meaning that you weren't that out of breath, "We're going to train." You looked down with a sadish smile, "I know that you can't, and won't, get out of this... situation. If you're going to fight, I want you to be as prepared as possible. I'm going to train you to the best of my abilities." When you looked back up, you saw Upa with a determined yet hesitant smile. "Really?" You smiled, "Yes, really." You saw him smile again and you smiled with him. "I'm warning you though, it will be rather intense." "I know. I can take it." You chuckled at this, "Well let's test that claim out." you said you both entered the training ground.
(Timeskip)
Upa was thrown down for what seemed to be the hundredth time. "Again." You said as you slammed your staff on the ground, leaning on it. Upa, while he seemed to struggle a bit, got up and stood on his feet, holding the staff at the ready. The room was silent as you both stood ready to attack. You both suddenly lunged at each other. Upa tried to swing at your lower back but you blocked him, pushing him back. You dodged his hit as you dove under his staff, rolling before getting back on your feet, "Your back is open." you said sternly before hitting him in the shallow depression behind his knee, making him fall backwards. You stood over him, a stern look on your face. Your expression soon softened as you offered a hand to him. He took it, allowing you to pull him up. "You did well." He pouted as he crossed his arms, "No I didn't. I lost every time." You shrugged, "You may have lost, but you have improved quite a bit. Especially with your form. You are also now more aware of your blind spots." You smiled "Now come on, I bet it's almost time for breakfast" He nodded and set his staff down. Just as you were about to reach the door, Samon opened it, poking his head in, "Oh, there you are." He said, looking at Upa. "It's time for breakfast." "That's where we were heading." You said, walking to the door. "What's Upa doing here? I thought you like to train alone?" "She agreed to train me." Upa said proudly. Samon raised an eyebrow, "Really?" He turned to you, "How come you choose to train him and not me?" He said, pouting and crossing his arms like a child. Samon had been asking you to train him as you were very skilled in your field. You really hated lying to Samon, so you settled on giving him a shrug, "I don't know. Now let's go eat. I'm hungry." Though he didn't ask any questions, you knew that there was going to be some later. In the meantime, you, Upa, and Samon begin your trek to the cafeteria.
Once again a few hours late. I just woke up to get a glass of water then remembered that I was supposed to post today. I think? I don't know I can't quite think straight right now so imma keep this short. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed and see you in the next chapter! So YEET.
