You stared blankly at his body, tears flowing unchecked down your cheeks. You didn't even hear when the medical team got there. Everything sounded as if you were under water. You could tell that they were talking to you, but you couldn't hear it. Upa came and moved you out of the way. You watched as they draped a white sheet over his body. You stared at it as it was stained with blotches of red. You managed to turn your head to see that Samon, wide-eyed and messy-haired, was running towards you. 'he must have rushed here' you thought randomly. He grabbed you by the shoulders and started talking to you frantically. You didn't hear what he said. More tears came down your face. He seemed to see that you were in no condition to answer questions, so he began to lead you away from the group. You pulled your hand out of his gentle grasp and walked back to Upa. He looked at you with sadness in his eyes. He pulled you into a hug. You forced your tears to stop, remembering your promise. "(Y/n)." Came a voice, separate from the sea of chaos. You pulled back to look at his face. He gently wiped your face dry and looked into your eyes. He looked like he was about to say something but decided against it and shut his mouth. Instead, he leaned forward and carefully placed his lips onto yours. He held you so delicately, like you would break if he held on too hard, which was partially true. You let your tears fall as you kissed back. He pulled away, once again wiping your tears away. "Come on. Let's go." He said, grabbing your hand. You nodded and walked towards Samon. The days after that went by in a blur. You mindlessly answered questions. Upa never left your side as you helped take down Chénmò de shāshǒu. Pretty soon, you had destroyed the thing that almost destroyed you. You still had to stay at Namba for a long time. Without the proper documents, which had magically disappeared, your sentence couldn't be taken off completely. Momoko managed to pull a few strings. You and Upa would get out on the same day at least. You wanted to be prepared to integrate into a society that you had never been a part of. You began studying like crazy. In a matter of months you had made your way through middle school and high school. You had been taught well while in Chénmò de shāshǒu, so all you had to do was take the official tests. You then began studying for college. You wanted to help people. It was kind of your way of un-doing all of the hurt that you had caused. You studied hard and you passed the tests with high grades. You achieved your degree in physical therapy. When you got out, you would be able to start helping people. You always remembered your promise to Shen. Your bond with Upa strengthened as time went by. Liang and Qi became like brothers. After years of hurt, sadness, hate, and love, you were in your cell in Namba, packing your bags. You got released tomorrow. Excitement made the air inside of the cell seem electric as you packed your clothes. "I can't believe you're really going." Said Liang as he handed you the last piece of your clothing. "I know. I'm going to miss you two." You said sadly. Liang and Qi were being released over a year after you. Upa snuck up behind you, poking you in your side. You yelped and jump, glaring at him afterword. "Was that really necessary?" you asked, crossing your arms. He shrugged, "No, not really." You rolled your eyes, "Hurry up. We have to get to bed. We wake up at 6." After packing, you texted Samon that you were ready. A bit after you sent the text, you heard a group of people walking towards your cell. When they arrived, you saw everyone standing there, smiles on their faces. Samon unlocked the door and let them in. You laughed, "What's all this?" Samon shrugged, "We all wanted to say goodbye before you left." You felt the sting of tears burn your eyes and hugged Samon. He hugged you back. "I'm going to miss you." He said as he pulled away. You laughed as Hajime ruffled your hair, "Don't work yourself too hard out there, kid." You jumped as you felt a cold nose boop your leg and looked down to see one of Kenshiro's dogs. "Hey there girl." You said as you patted her head. "You better come back and visit them." Said Kenshiro, still wanting to keep up his stoic façade. "Don't worry, I'll come visit you." You said, giving him a hug too. Kiji was already on the phone talking with Momoko to see when was the earliest he could take off saying that he needed to go shopping with you asap. "(Y/N)-CHAN!" called Nico as he ran through the crowd along with the rest of his cell mates. "Hey guys!" The whole group glomped you, making you fall to the ground. "Guys!" you laughed as you struggled to get up. "(Y/N) YOUR LEAVING US." Cried Uno. You giggled, "I'll be back, don't worry." You reassured them. Upa pulled you out of the dog pile. "You better not do anything to her." Said Rock threateningly. You sighed, "Oh leave him alone." Eventually everyone left. Once the cell was empty, you sighed. You would truly miss all of them. "LIGHTS OUT." Yelled a guard as the lights shut off. 'not ganna miss that though' You all stumbled your way to your beds. You managed to calm your heart down and sleep despite your anticipation of tomorrow. "Hey sleepy-head. Wake up." Said Upa as he poked your side. You swatted his hands away and got out of the bed. After getting ready, you were both ready. You had stopped taking your medication a while ago, so you didn't worry about that. You hugged Liang and Qi goodbye one last time as you were taken out of the cell you had called home for so many years. Momoko stood by the boat that was to take you away. "Who's going to watch Nathen now?" She asked, smiling. You shrugged, "I don't know, but definitely don't leave him with Samon." After saying your goodbyes and promising to call and visit a thousand times, you got onto the boat. You held Upa's hand as you weren't wearing your hoodie. You had stopped wearing those to in favor for some better-fitting clothes. When the boat touched the dock, you almost fell out of it as you weren't expecting it to stop so soon. Momoko had set you up with an apartment and your luggage would be taken there by some guards. Upa helped you off of the boat as you both looked around in awe. This was it. This is what you were fighting for. After every time you had been beaten, after everything you had sacrificed, after everything you had done, you were here. You were free. You didn't have to look over your shoulder anymore in fear of someone trying to kill you. You didn't have to constantly train for some imminent battle to the death. You jumped when you felt Upa's thumb graze your cheek. You had been crying apparently. But you didn't care. You were here. You were here with him. You were finally free. You began laughing suddenly, happy tears still flowing down your face. Upa cracked up a bit too, laughing along with you. You smiled through the kiss when he suddenly pulled you into him. You both ran off of the boat, hand in hand, ready to take on whatever awaited you in your new life.
