the bitter truth

People are not always loyal
They lie, betray and hurt you
They break you or your heart
They leave you in your time of need

Welcome to the new day and age
Welcome to the life of oppression and depression
Society is now divided and no longer united
The world we live in is suffering near to its end

Our youth are suffering and depressed
The words of others means nothing
People are unhappy and never satisfied
Our greed and ego takes the steering wheel of our lives

Our selfish desires makes us wanting more
We never settle for what is enough for us
People are overworked and stressed
Getting by in life is harder and costly

Prejudice and ignorance is too prevalent
We only look at the surface and forget to look deeper
Everyone's fighting a silent struggle we don't know
Kindness in a world is scarce these days

Society divided humanity
Homelessness and poverty are on the rise
We're supposed to be allies
Yet we're turning into enemies towards our own people

Politics is twisted
These politicians use blasphemy in their words
They're putting wool over your eyes
All this propaganda is all nonsense and empty promises

Those high in ranking of our society abuse their power
The social hierarchy is unjust and discriminatory
Human rights are seen as a joke and abused
Cruelty is congratulated towards those below us

Left, right and centre is our world crumbling
Our economy is financially declining
Global warming rises our earth's temperatures
Our air are becoming toxic to breathe because of our own carelessness

Our society is too patriarchal
Women are harassed and abused
Where is the respect for one another?
Respect seems to be non-existent

Society has turned us into victims of lies and betrayal
Words are played loosely
What is the truth in the world when we know only lies to be our lives?
Life's a game of chess we all battle in to stand a chance of survival

Life's a blessing and a curse
What doesn't kill you is the tests of this life
It's what makes you stronger
Sadly, not everyone face the tests so easily

It's the bitter truth of life we all face
Life is short so treasure it
