Hope's Pov

"Hope! Wake up!" My mom yells at me from down stairs.

"Alright mom! I'm awake!" I yell back.

I get off my bed and walk into the bathroom. After doing my business, I plug in my straightener and go get dressed. For today, I choose a black tank top with a white with black stripes on it, with dark blue jeans, brown boots, and had straightened my black with red highlighted hair with a little flip in the bangs. For my make up I chose all black, with a dash of purple, for the eye shadow. I walk downstairs to eat breakfast and I see my mom is standing in the kitchen, drinking her coffee as usual. She looks up at me and smiles.

"Morning babe"

"Hey mom"

"You look nice today. Who are trying to impress?" She smirks at me. I swear she thinks that's all I ever do.

"I'm not impressing any one" I growl at her for even thinking of asking that. It does bother you after you hearing it so many times.

"Okay, okay I was just asking. No need to get an attitude with me Hope" I just roll my eyes and go back to my room with a granola bar in one hand and sweet tea in the other. At 7:30 I brush my teeth and start to head out the door when my mom stops me.

"Do you want a ride?"

"No, I can walk. Its only 5 minutes away. Thanks though"

I get to school and look at my surroundings. My school is the stereotypical school have a group of jocks in one section having burping contests, cheerleaders practicing, nerds playing chess/video games, etc. Well, I'm not really in one of those groups. I'm just kind of... There. I talk to some cheerleaders, talk to football players once in a while, ask nerds for help sometimes and heck I even talk to the druggies sometimes. I'm not a dealer or anything so don't get ahead of yourself. As I'm walking up the stairs Mendy Rivers comes up to me.

"Hey Hope!"

"Hey Mendy! What's up?"

"Did you do the Honors English homework? Because I don't understand it."

"Yeah. I can help you during study break?"

"Awesome! You know where to find me!"

"Yup! Bye Mendy"

"Bye!" She is a really nice person, I give her that, but she can be so dumb sometimes. All we had for homework was a worksheet over antonyms. I walk over to my best friend, Jessica Ford.

"Hey Jes!"

"Hey girl! How's it goin?"

"Eh. Same old, same old" I say shrugging "How about you?"

"Same. Did you do the Honors Biology?"

"WE HAD HOMEWORK?!?!?!" I jumped up and started freaking out.

"Nah. Just messing with you" she starts laughing at me as I just glare at her.

"Not funny Jessica Marie"

"Hey! You know I hate my middle name"

"And you know I hate people giving me heart attacks" We start laughing and the bell rings for first period.

"See ya later alligator!" I yell at her

"After while crocodile!"

The day goes on first A cappella choir all the way to last, gym class. I helped Mendy with her homework and she aced the pop quiz we had today so, good for her. I started walking home when I passed an alley with a group of people standing there. I hid behind the crates of a pizza parlor and watched. Next thing I know they are beating up someone. I see them struggling so I ran into the alley and yelled at them.

"HEY! STOP THAT YOU'RE HURTING HIM!" The group stops and looks at me like I'm a piece of meat.

"Look what we have here boys" a tall, fat man snarls "A pretty little girl acting big and tough. Get lost" he turns back to the boy they were beating up.

"I. Said. STOP!" I ran up to one of them and yanked them off of the boy. He stopped and looked at me before laughing and throwing a punch. I was too quick and dunked out of the way and punched him in the nose.

"Now you're gonna get it you twit!" He threw another but I slid to the ground and swiped his feet. He fell to the ground with a grunt and landed with a thump. The fat one came after me but I got up and kicked him in the shin (you know since my punch would've been softened by his blubber). A sightly less fat man came at me and grabbed my wrists and held me to the ground.

"Let go of me!" I threw my head forward and head butted him and I have a hard head so, down he went.

"NOW SCRAM!" The men snarled at me before leaving.

"Hey, are you okay?" I leaned down to help the boy. He looked about my age maybe older. He had black hair and an amazing jaw line. He was tall and very attractive.

"I could've fought them off myself"

"Didn't look like it. Sorry for helping"

"Yeah well, you should be. Now they think I'm a wimp."

"Whatever. You're welcome by the way" I turned and stomped off towards my house. I looked back and saw him underneath the street light looking at me. I hurriedly turned away. I got home and my mom was in the living room watching TV.

"Hey! I'm home"

"Hey, how was school?"

"Alright. It was school. How about your day?" I ask getting some sweet tea out of the fridge.

"Alright. Got the laundry caught up"

"That's good. I'm gonna take a shower"

"Alright" with a nod I walked the stairs and took a shower. After my shower I threw on my sweatpants and a tee shirt. I went to straight to bed. Today, had been too long for my liking.
