It was a Friday night and Clem and Louis were sat in the latter's house, working tirelessly on a project for French class. Clem had forced Louis to put in effort when he would much rather be goofing off, which had led to his inevitable groan of boredom, signally the fact that no more work would be done.

"What now?" Clem asked, smiling and releasing her grip on her pencil.

"I'm very bored, Clemmy," Louis responded matter of factly. "We need to take a break."

"Fine then." She leaned back into the couch and stretched her arms out. Clem wasn't particularly keen on leaving the comfort of Louis's home. It was was vast, elegant, and hauntingly empty.

Just the way she liked it.

She envied him in a way, she often longed to be alone and without her obnoxious family, for studying purposes of course. Plus, it was the first time she had been inside, apart from the dazed, drunk night she had spent there on Halloween.

"I'm kind of hungry, got any snacks?" She wondered, making Louis's brow furrow.

"Not here, but there's a gas station nearby."

"Then what are we waiting for?"

They trotted down the street, their figures reflected in puddles scattered and spilling in the streets. Every once in a while, their hands would brush together just barely, but enough to make Louis's heartbeat quicken.

They were just a couple days into December, finals just a week away. With the impending end of the year around the corner, Louis was impatient.

He wanted the year to be over. This semester had lots of highs and lows, moments he would rather forget while there are others he would remember forever. Like what happened between him and Clem days prior at school.

Kissing her, especially that particular time, was imprinted in his mind as a monument even though there was an unspoken rule between them to never discuss it. The fact that she admitted she had wanted it to occur activated his impulsive nature which was the only reason he delivered on her wish. When their lips clashed, his skin bubbled like hot lava and his heart knocked around in his chest. And now he knew she felt the same.

"Lou? What're you waiting for, it's snack time!" Clem shouted. When he looked up, she was standing in front of the convenience store, pointing at the door. Green neon lights shone onto her skin and hair accentuating her beauty.

He nodded. "Y-yeah, I'm coming."

They sauntered in and went straight for the fridges containing their favorite drinks. Clem swung open one of the doors, wrapping her fingers around a sugary coffee beverage.

"Gross, you drink that?" Louis gawked, making an overdramatic gagging noise.
Clem scoffed and watched as he grabbed a Redbull.

"I don't know why you're judging me when you drink those."

"Um, Clemmy, have you ever had a vodka Redbull? Immaculate." Clem pursed her lips.

"You're not drinking tonight, right?"

"No, we have a project to do. My point was that Redbull is good even without alcohol."

The girl smiled, concerns gone. She was anxious that this night would turn into one of babysitting as she watched Louis disconnect from reality. Thankfully, she would be spared.
