For most, October 21st was a normal day.
But for Louis, it was the birthday of the girl he was hopelessly crushing on.
He had been prepping her gift for weeks, using passerby mentions of things she would enjoy to perfect the present down to the color of the gift wrap, which was her favorite shade of orange.
The stakes were high in this situation, as Louis hoped that maybe she would see him in a new light after noticing his dedication to her happiness.
So on this Monday morning, he sprung out of bed, excited to treat the girl of his dreams for one day, and if it goes well, then for many more.
He started by calling Clementine for a little surprise.
"Hello?" She mumbled into the phone groggily.
"Why hello, Birthday Girl. You sound lovely."
"You woke me up."
"I'm picking you up today, so get ready. I'll be there in 20 minutes."
"There better be something in this for me."
"Of course, time with your hilarious best friend." He chuckled, just hearing her voice made him light up. "And breakfast."
"I'm in. See you soon." Happily, he hung up. Louis took one final look at her present before grabbing his keys and heading off to Clementine's house.

"Hey Lou," Clem greeted as she sat in the passenger seat of his car. She looked beautiful, to put it lightly. Her hair was half up and half down and she was wearing a pastel pink tube top with high waisted jeans. Any compliments Louis wanted to bestow upon her were shoved back in his mind as to not make her uncomfortable, but oh how he craved to appreciate her out loud.
"Hi Clem," Their gazes met briefly and Louis noticed the new color of her irises. "Your eyes... they're blue."
"Yeah, I just wanted to switch it up." She snickered as he began driving. "They're just contacts."
"I like amber, it suits you." Clem angled her head, the early morning light making her cheekbone highlight sparkle. "N-Not that blue isn't pretty it's just-"
"Thanks," She shifted, blushing. "So, what's your plan?" Clem leaned her chin on her hand.
"Since we both have first off, I figured breakfast would be nice. And I was gonna give you your present at lunch-"
"Shit! I forgot to tell you, my parents want you to come over tonight. A little hangout birthday thing."
"Oh, really?"
"Yeah, my dad met you that one time when you were running away from me-"
"We've discussed that-" Louis pointed out, both of them grinning.
"Anyway, he thought you seemed cool, wants to meet you," Louis tensed up, his hands gripping the wheel. "And Violet will be there too."
"Oliver?"
