For Louis, he had rarely known bliss. But this first week of being with Clem was beyond that.

Since the confession of their feelings at the start of 2020, things hadn't been the same. They were sparsely separated to allow themselves to make up for lost time.

For example, right now.

They were situated in Clementine's bedroom, one of his arms enveloping her and pulling her close. His thumb was brushing her skin carefully as she pushed her cheek against his chest. Previously, he would have been in this circumstance and just dreamed of kissing her, but now, he could actually do it.

"Clem," He whispered. She looked up from her position and met his eyes with her own. Music subtly played in the background, replacing the words she expected to come out of his mouth before he put his lips on hers.

For Clementine, it was amazing to feel weightless while kissing him. Oliver was no longer lingering at the back of her mind. She was able to enjoy these moments without the burden of guilt. However, she just wanted to know one thing.

When she pulled back, Louis got worried.

"Is something wrong?" He asked, his voice still quiet.

"Well, can you tell me one thing?"

"Yeah, of course." He tucked some hair behind her ear, bringing pink to her cheeks.

"Are we..." She stumbled on her words. "...A thing?"

"Like," He stalled, heart beating faster. "Girlfriend and boyfriend?"

"I mean, if you want that."

"I would-" She playfully hit him on the arm as an interruption.

"You have to ask me!"

"Alright," They got up from their comfortable positions, Clem moving to the edge of the bed as Louis stood in front of her. With her hands in his, they smiled. "Clementine, do you want to be my girlfriend?"

"Of course." The couple embraced, giggling and falling back on the mattress. "We're idiots."

"Why?" He questioned.

"Because we wasted so much time."

"Don't think about it too much, at least we finally got there."

They calmed down a bit, returning to their previous embrace. Clem sighed heavily as Louis stroked her back.

"I don't want to go to school tomorrow."

The next morning, Louis woke up bright and early, excited to get on with the day for once. He loved how his life had changed recently, but one thing was always nagging in his brain.

During the pursuance of he and Clem's relationship, he had leaned on alcohol to numb whatever pain he felt. Anytime he was jealous, depressed, plagued by fleeting happiness, he turned to liquor. Even now, he couldn't stop himself from sneaking just a little in order to get through the day. It scared him because he knew that heavy intoxication brought out his emotional side, whether it be rage or sadness, yet he still continued to drink. Of course, he could still feel and focus, but not without being slightly disconnected from reality.
