The next day was only another gloomy day for Ashton. Also literally because the weather was gloomy too.
BUT today's Remembrance Day. The schools tradition was usually to write a letter to their deceased loved ones. They'd then sign their names, fold them up and they'd scatter the letters all throughout the cemetery.
Ashton really didn't want to write a letter because he thought the idea was stupid and silly. But he sat in his room and watched Delaney write her letter to their father.
—
They had just finished classes and Josie, Ashton and Delaney were walking past the common area when something- or someone caught Ashton's eye.
Ashton's POV — "Dad?" I say softly as I can feel my eyes start to water. "Ash, Laney!" Dad called out as he dropped to his knees. Both Delaney and I ran into his embrace right away.
We've been away from him for so long, but I thought he died.
I feel a hand on my shoulder and I turn around to see Josie.
She shakes her head. I get confused as to why she's shaking her head, but then I remember that the same thing happened to Josie's biological mom.
—
I storm down to the werewolf cells where Josie said the monster was.
"What the hell is wrong with you!" I shout balling my fists. I stare at the guy and my eyes started to glow.
"Ashton calm down!" Hope says. "Calm down?!", I shout back at Hope. "He brought my dead dad back to life!" "He did what?" Dr. Saltzman says in disbelief.
"Ah yes, his spirit was clinging on to you like a vine in winter", He says. "Took barely any effort, just a little wrinkle of the nose and poof."
I growl lowly at the guy.
"You're lucky that's all I did." He says. "Lucky?!" I scoff. "Well the way you people treated a man of my stature, you should be ashamed." He says.
"Literally nobody knows who you are!" Dr. Saltzman as he walks over to me. "It's impossible." The man says. "I'll check on Delaney and your dad." Dr. Saltzman tells me. "And what about him." I say calmer. Dr. Saltzman shrugs and leaves.
"If you want to end this misery simply bring me the knife and I'll be on my way." He says. "Ash, Hope." Dr. Saltzman calls out.
I turn to take one last look at the guy, then my eyes meet Hopes for a second. I shake it off and I walk out of the cellar.
